We’ve got a little bit of tea coming out about the situation at Texas Tech. Dylan Hoskins commented on this tiktok saying that it is not because of a coaching change, but because the coach is NOT being replaced 👀 www.tiktok.com/t/ZT8PVRFEn/

Dylan’s mom commented there are 3 more hitting the portal on the 3rd they ain’t gonna have a team at this point lmfaoooo Or maybe they were asked not to come back. Teams that inadvertently or purposely cleared house this year did not fair too bad. (There are exceptions of course). I am wondering the thought process of players who allegedly stage mutinies against their coach. While it may seem romantic and virtuous at the time, what coach is going to line up in the portal and say "oh that kid screams positive culture builder?"

This is for everything else My feeling is the other thread is for both announcements to head into the portal as well as eventual destinations, whereas this is more for gossip. But I can't emphasize how little I care about siloing the conversations. They're going to spill over into each thread in any case. People get anal about these sorts of things in ways I can't be bothered with. But I certainly respect the right for people to express their opinions on the matter. Just like I just did.

Classic.

Classic. I haven't seen any of the commentary, but when you see what happened to them in the last half of last year, watch players like Cooper and Sauer leave and thrive in their new destinations, it gives a little more context to the mass departure occurring this year, regardless of social media posts.

Classic. there's so much more that goes into being a good coach than results Maybe? I feel like the term "results" is too vague. I think wins is what you're going for here. Results encompasses anything that a good coach might accomplish. But even if we go with wins, that's pretty much the measurement at the highest levels. For a development league coach, other measures might be more important. But no one at Texas Tech is going to think of their volleyball program's main purpose as developing the players for the next level. We can argue whether it SHOULD be that way. A nice coach that instills self esteem, whose players go on to do great things, but loses a whole bunch is still going to be fired, whether they should or shouldn't be.

If you're the nicest coach in the world but lose a ton, I think you could be fairly fired. if your results are amazing and breaking program records but you're players hate playing for you and dont respect you, I also think you could be fairly fired. the best coaches are the ones who find a way to do both. you can be a hard ass and still be loved by *majority* of the players (russ rose, John cook, dbk)
