Not to be TOO shady, but ... Kentucky wasn't an Elite 8 team. Do they mean someone else? "points away from" I feel like Kentucky - Arkansas was the only match where the non-advancing team was "points away from" TN took Texas to 5. Lost 16-14 in the 5th.

There’s no way Carlson ends up at Texas right?? I would be very surprised. I think if you’re Texas it makes sense since we only have 1 scholarship setter to go after one. But, for Averi it really depends what she’s looking for in a school. Auburn and Texas seem to indicate two different goals. At Auburn she’d very likely be the starter on a mid level team. At Texas she would be battling someone who already started for a year and is younger. But if she’s looking for team success it would make sense. Or maybe she just wants to play in the SEC? I still think TCU makes a lot of sense. But staying at Baylor makes the most sense to me so what do I know. Doesn't wisconsin make sense? Both of their setters are grad students and not 6 rotation players clearly. That's gonna be a need for them

Portal getting SPICY this morning. Another UNC player, one of the best RS's in the country, and a 6 rotation outside that had her team points from the Elite 8 “One of the best RS’s in the country” is Levinska taking her COVID year elsewhere or is Kennedy Martin following Merritt Beason’s example and bailing on Florida?

I don’t know necessarily think Carlson would fit geographically but you never know.

That's gonna be a need for them MJ Hammill is not a grad student, she's a true senior who has decided not to use her COVID year (at least not with us). We have the heir apparent coming in next fall in Fuerbringer, the #1 rated (or #2 depending on which ranking site you use) setter of the Class of 2024 who has been part of multiple team USA's roster. We also have a walk-on freshman setter in Morgan who will back her up. So no, we don't really need a setter, rather use the scholarship (IF we still have one) on an outside.

two years at long beach, two at tennessee right? Yes, but the first year at Long Beach it looks like (per Tenn's bio of her) that she didn't play at all? She could easily be a grad transfer. Tenn has an early version of the 2024 roster on it, and Lovett isn't there. If that roster is correct, Eve will be active in the portal looking at pins. Though 2024 commit Paityn Chapman isn't listed there yet. Big West didn't play the COVID year.

two years at long beach, two at tennessee right? Would she have to sit out as this is her third school or no because it’s a grad transfer?

Agreed. JFO has to pick up an experienced libero in the portal for next year. No way they can continue with who they have if they want to be competitive.

Sounds like Tennessee will be very active hunting in the portal. I think that - once again - Mississippi State will, too. It seems like Schmidt and Shackleford will be back, but everyone else in their contingent of pins is hitting the portal: OH Sophie Agee (typically a starter), OH Avery Fitzgerald, OPP Caylee Sharkey (again, mostly a starter), and OH Ashley Sturzoiu. I don't see any OH/OPP signees in the 2024 class listed on Rich Kern, either. (CORRECTION - there's a RS listed). Two returning pins and one freshman isn't going to cut it. Second year in a row we've seen a pretty big player exodus out of Starkville (this post focuses on pins, but DS Georgia McCarter is also leaving, for a total of 5 - that I know of).
