She didn’t at Kentucky. That’s why she’s looking for someplace else. I don’t see Texas being a great fit in that regard. she did at Kentucky Well, never mind then. I feel like an idiot. Again. I thought that’s why she’s leaving. In any case, my point still stands with Texas. I don’t think the Longhorns are looking for a 6 rotation OPP unless Kipp has a year remaining none of us knew about.

She did pass (in just a few rotations while she was front row) and she’s looking for a chance to play 6-rotations consistently. That doesn’t necessarily mean she’s looking for more passing opportunities though as she can play 6-rotations and not pass.

Wenaas+Akana, Skinner, and Halter can be the three passers. not that that’s a great passing unit, but it’s viable if we believe Rutherford’s D ball is effective

Starting the year yes, but especially after a couple injuries she would get subbed out. So don’t feel too idiotic

The Kentucky to Texas pipeline is strong if Rutherford and/or Fischer potentially end up there lol. Maybe we can convince Bunton or Helmers to come back to the blue grass state down the road.

if Rutherford isn’t going to Texas, I would allow Oregon to get Rutherford, Lovett, and Carlson lol or if Cline is good, then Meg Brown We'll need a second setter regardless, and I'd prioritize L/DS over a hitter. Still maybe leaves one for a hitter - will probably need pin depth but I like the 4 we have. Setter and L/DS for sure. I would say OH/OPP and MB or another middle (Leyla Blackwell/Meg Brown👀)

They don’t need her since they have grimes and the number 5 player in next years class comming in at that position. She was pretty solid for psu.

Just because someone CAN receive serve doesn’t mean they’re ready to do it at a championship caliber level. Not saying Rutherford can’t get there, but I don’t see Texas guaranteeing someone six rotations. Not even Skinner played 6 rotations last year, and Elliott has been willing to let players leave if they don’t agree with how they’re being utilized as an individual. Our program will have multiple back row options and whatever is best for the team should be on the court. Although it’s possible to play 6 rotations at OPP without being in the serve receive pattern obviously, defense still factors in. tldr If RR comes to Texas, it won’t be for a six rotation guarantee. Rutherford shouldn’t have to pass as a 6-rotation OPP, that was just an ask of Kentucky for whatever reason. Her backrow defense is actually pretty fine. She was a 6-rotation OPP/setter all throughout club and high school, so backrow defense isn’t new to her. Serve receive definitely is though, and if she ends up at a school with two passing outsides, she won’t have to pass. Because in 2022 you had a Sophie's Choice of either her or Rollins passing

Not tea related- I think if I could go back in time I would have a daughter that is HS Class of ‘25, I think it is a double, but if not a 1.5x graduating class in college. There will be a lot of opportunities for ‘25s. All the real SR’s will be graduating and the last of the COVID bunch.

You take Rutherford over Sczech 100 times out of 100. I don’t think that fits within McGuyre’s style. After Pressley’s class, he encouraged all 5th years to seek opportunities elsewhere and has really tried to balance the team’s needs with honoring the talent he already has on the roster. He has seemed to have a more long-term vision with transfers. Sczech slumped some her sophomore year, which isn’t uncommon, but she’s not an awful player. Extremely inconsistent, but is capable of having an impact on both offense and defense. She also hasn’t really had anyone to push her at the opposite position. Grace Carroll coming in next season is really going to force Sczech to step up because Grace is really really good and I think has a higher ceiling. I would make the argument Sczech did not look good this year and when she did it was against non power 5 competition. She also did this with a setter who makes everyone one of her hitters look good. I would not be surprised if Baylor tries hard for Rutherford or Carroll outright beats out Sczech

I would not be surprised if Baylor tries hard for Rutherford or Carroll outright beats out Sczech I agree, which is why I said she slumped this year. She had a solid freshman season, was 2nd team Big 12 and was on the preseason list heading into the season as well. She’s shown she can be an offensive weapon, she just has to be so much smarter and clean up her errors. Managing her swings is something that will surely be worked on for her in the off-season. She’s already a good blocker, just need more consistent offense. Some noteworthy matches she had this season: Iowa State- 7 kills, .636 Cincinnati- 10 kills, .348 UCF- 9 kills, .333 Texas Tech- 13 kills, .458 Kansas, 12 kills, .320 JMU, 9 kills, .529 And if Grace does beat out Sczech, then having her come off the bench as a backup won’t be so bad either. I get that Rutherford is better player as a 5th year, but allowing Sczech and Carroll battle it out will pay off for Baylor in the long run.

If Baylor is losing Carlson and has an extra scholarship to offer, I’m sure they go after Williams. They’re fine on the pins, but could use some help alongside Bibinbe. And Williams is from Texas which is a good start. I don’t see Rutherford transferring to Baylor or Texas A&M just based on the opposites those teams already have. Texas could make sense. Or if she’s not prioritizing being on a top tier team and is wanting guaranteed 6-rotation time, I could see her reuniting with McCardell at Rice. 6-rotation play seems like a big priority for her, and I’m sure she can find a team with good enough passing outsides that won’t force her to pass as an opposite. You take Rutherford over Sczech 100 times out of 100. rutherford is pretty in touch and outward with her faith for what its worth. I could definitely see her at Baylor but who knows if that'll even be an option
