It so happens that the first transfer window ended Jan 1 while Nebraska’s Spring semester started Jan 2. The second transfer window ends May 15. Since players can’t lose their current semester scholarship, but can lose their next semester scholarship, it is in Krause’s and Batenhorst’s best interest to enter the portal sometime Jan 2 - May 15. It will be interesting to see if they entered the portal on Jan 1.
TL and Krause are fairly comparable to each other, so JCook getting TL won’t be a huge upgrade. Krause being the incumbent and from Nebraska would probably prevail over TL in a tie. JCook’s bigger win in this is denying Sheffield TL’s talent.
I can’t imagine the Nebraska OH room would be a happy place if all five OHs on their current 2024 roster stay.

I don’t really agree with this narrative at all and it seems like many fans share similar sentiments. TL accomplishments speak for themselves, B1G POY, 2 time first team all B1G. Krause is a career <.250 hitter, 3 ro player with <3 k/s, no postseason awards. She’s definitely trended upwards and put the team on her back at times. You can argue she’s played outside her position though. But,TL is better in all facets currently and has similarly not reached her full potential

Ok, I don’t care about Landfair anymore.
Who else is TBA that has already entered the portal, and who are some potential grad transfers, whether they enter or not?

Meanwhile Landfair is a career .244 hitter, including .257 and .222 the last two years. However Landfair prevails on the awards. Nebraska doesn’t need either to do 6 ro, so it doesn’t help Nebraska that one of them is better at it.

Are these majority pins? I’ll admit, not super familiar with the games of most besides Mendelson and Blackwell.
And secondary question, are ANY of these players the type that could bring a Top 15-25 team into the Top 10?

Vernon is underrated imo, she can be a Charitie Luper type, undersized outside hitter who can put the ball away. She was on a tragic OSU team for the last four years so she can make some significant strides under a top 25 program. Morris had that huge game against Texas but you can argue how much a top tier libero can impact a top team, shes prob not the level of like Fleck but she averaged almost 5 digs per set this year

Kjolhede- MB, Grad (Indiana) Morris- L, Grad (K-State) Jackson- OPP, JR (West Virginia) Babic- S, JR (UNC) Rhodes- S, Grad (Texas Tech) Hopp- MB, Grad (Iowa State) Vernon- OH, Grad (Oregon State) Nolan- MB, Soph (UNC) Morris is easily a game changer for any program. Especially one needing a solid libero. Vernon is a bit undersized but in the right hands she could be lethal.

JCook’s bigger win in this is denying Sheffield TL’s talent. Calling a former 1st-team AA and someone who hasn't even made an all-conference end of season team "fairly comparable' is wild and crazily unfair to Landfair lol. I get she just had a down year and all, but she has proven she can be a terminator getting 4+ K/S on an elite team where opposing blockers can camp on the pins because Minny doesn't set their middles. And it's not like Krause bring some sort of elite defense or serve receive (she passed a 1.78 last year, which is worse than Landfair by the way lol) to the table to even out the comparisons. Also, in the event of a tie, Landfair has two more years of eligiblity, Krause only has 1, so it would probably tilts towards Landfair simply because of that (ironically, kinda similar to how Krause (and Batenhorst) was the starter by the end of her freshman year over Lexi Sun).
