Never considered Whit to Creighton...but that's interesting. Just an hour away. Doesn't need to pack up her new family and move away. I'd certainly like to see that over Wisconsin or Texas 🤮 I posted the following in the Nebraska 2023 thread back in September. Maybe she is setting her sights higher than UNO (or Creighton), but proximity to family still seems like it might be a consideration in her decision-making process. (Also, the part about helping Omaha get their first NCAA tournament bid is now a moot point.) If Whitney returns to playing college VB next season, wouldn’t Creighton or Omaha be the most likely destinations? Personally I would like to see her help Omaha get their first NCAA tournament bid.

Lmao like how can they have someone already lined up (unless it is the wake forest transfer)? No one who is a big name randomly "jumps" in the portal. They already know where they are going before they do. do they tho? skinner, booth, podraza, and beason didnt have anything arranged prior to entering

I wouldn't mind her going to Wisconsin or Texas. It would be nice if we faced either of those teams starting an OPP who hit .206 in the Big Ten. Maybe that was because of the revolving setter door in Lincoln last season . . . Signed, Kaitlyn Hord Maybe, some other team can learn whether that was the case or not. I hope Whitney plays somewhere, has a nice career, and gets her education...and continues healing from her father's suicide. Her situation paved the way for Beason to become a Husker, hopefully it will be a win/win situation.

Conflating Husker fans into a monolith is VT's favorite pastime.
"Husker fans were..."
"and now Husker fans are..."
Different Husker fans. Different people. Different opinions.

My statement was made in general terms. Not 100% accurate as most players who are not playing or not on scholorship jump in blind in hopes of finding a home. Podraza had mutiple teams reach out and coordinate visits. Grad Students are a little different in this process in that they already have a very solid body of work. All of the PR around JFO announcing she was not bringing back her 5th years last year was part of finding a new home for all of them. Most SA do not have that luxury.

I specifically mentioned those players because what you posted does not apply to them. yes podraza had multiple visits arranged.. key word MULTIPLE, which is why "they already know where they're going before they do" doesnt apply to her. Beason spoke with multiple schools, skinner took multiple visits, and its been publicly stated that Wisconsins own players went to Sheffield AFTER booth entered the portal and told him to go after her.

Too many Husker fans were seduced by her athleticism and highlight kills. Fact remains that she was high error in HS and was high error at Nebraska. Anyone can improve, but she is what she is, a .206 hitter in the league. I don't think anyone wanted her benched, we didn't have Beason as an option at the time. Agreed. I know I was pretty high on her at the beginning of the season, but she definitely fizzled out. A terminal player, but she can’t seem to stop erroring so much. Yes! Her freshman year I couldn't seem to put my finger on it, but the whole time I saw her as a strange factor for the team, turns out the whole time I saw her as more of a highschool player then a Nebraska right side. She swung like crazy but didn't have any intent/placement half the time with the ball and errored way too high.

Fair, I should have modified to say most highly sought after players know ahead of time that they will land somewhere decent and have options. Most do not have the same luxury.

Not surprised about this. Weird season for her, freshman year I believe she led MSU in points/set but then played almost never this season. Even when opposites were really struggling she was not put into matches. MSU has lots of outsides but was hoping she would improve and contribute more this season.

I wouldn't be surprised to see her go to Texas simply because Elliot has a track record of supporting high-level players who have very young children. Regardless, I hope she is able to return to volleyball and find success and happiness for herself and her family. I did not know that, are there any recent examples you could give me? But I agree that is going to be something huge for her to find in a program. Haley Eckerman is the biggest example. She gave birth to her son when she was still in high school. Here's a decent article publicly available from the UT student newspaper, The Daily Texan: thedailytexan.com/2012/10/12/eckerman-embraces-role-as-mother-team-leader/
