I thought the badgers themselves proved in 2013 that 1 vs 4 regional seed doesn't matter much. If the 4 seed beats the 1 seed, it's because they are playing better at this time of year. Kentucky could take Nebraska. Do I prefer to meet up with a Kentucky team that can do that but is seeded lower? Not really. Everybody who is still in contention is good at this time of year. Just win matches and see who comes next. the only difference is kentucky is a 2 seed - not a 4 seed. the equivalent team to Penn State in Nebraskas quarter is florida I Kentuckys equivalent in the wisconsin quarter would be oregon edit : Penn State is actually a 5 seed not a 4 - their equivalent is GT. them being a 5 seed even further pushes my point from earlier lol The badgers were a 4th seed in 2013 (12th overall). The comment about Kentucky was a separate thought. Kentucky is the 2nd seed in their region, but the 8th seed overall. I was saying If Kentucky beats the number 1 team in the conference, why should I care if their overall seeding is 8. The overall point is that the seeding doesn't matter much. IF GT beats the huskers I's be worried about them too.

My take is coaches are going to have to find the balance between incoming freshmen and transfer players. I think Nebraska is in a tough position actually because this is their team for a least the next two years. No big time player will be transferring to Nebraska this offseason. The risk of not playing is too high. Same thing goes for the 2024 class. Any recruit next year spends a least one year on the bench (not necessarily a bad thing). Top teams like Wisconsin will be able to fill their holes with proven college players. Especially with one more year of Covid seniors. Someone could argue Nebraska is doing it right (although they just upgraded hugely from a Florida transfer) but all teams are playing within the rules. The transfer portal changes the sport. All correct. Penn State is in an excellent position to have 2 blue chip recruits like Falduto and Stark step in immediately. Potential transfers out there are thrilled to see this and couple that with a chance to play with All B1G (most likely All Americans) like Jess Mruzik and Camryn Hannah on the pins, PSU is an instant contender and will mostly likely be better than this year's team. Katie is working that balance of recruits and Transfers like a Chess Master. So you think Falduto takes the libero spot or a DS spot? I do believe Stark sets day one. I really hope Anjelina is still able to find a way to get some court time. I think she is very valuable to the team.

So ideally I would like to see PSU or Texas win the National Championship but I don’t see that happening. The team I like with a real shot is Wisconsin so I think I have to pull for them on Thursday as hard as that will be. Really wish PSU could have landed in a different region.

The Badgers bench is thin. We saw them struggle to put a workable lineup on the floor when Smrek was out. (Orzol is a volleyball Swiss Army knife.) We really could use Wrobel and Damrow right now. Robinson has been playing at less than 100% physically. The Badgers can’t afford to have Devyn at less than 100%. –But if the Badgers are healthy they have a great shot at a title.
I’m happy to see the Big Ten has 4 teams still alive. I think the fact that the Badgers are playing Penn State is a plus because there will be less film to watch and fewer surprises.
Don’t underestimate the advantages of playing at home. It’s not just the court and the crowd. Avoiding travel allows more practice time and more time in the training room to heal up their injuries. It will be easier to keep up with classes. And, of course, there is the benefit sleeping in your own bed and avoiding hotel rooms.
Finally, the trip to Europe should be paying dividends now. If the Badger’s win it will be because of their teamwork. It’s time for the leaders to step up. From what I’ve seen of Kelly Sheffield, I think he’ll provide the right mental posture at the right time. Our kids should be unafraid. On Wisconsin!

The Badgers can’t afford to have Devyn at less than 100%. We can’t afford less than 100% Dev AND have Temi not continue to improve. TTA has had 3 straight matches with double digit kills, offsetting Dev’s lack of production of late.

GT has a real chance to take out Nebraska. But do they have a real chance to take out Nebraska, Kentucky, Pitt/ Louisville and then Wisconsin/Stanford in the final? I would say not really. There are some great teams that I think can cause some big upsets but I still think it’s a 5 maybe 7 team race at best this year. When was the last time a team came out of nowhere and won? 2011 UCLA? As Wisconsin being the team in that 5 I would like to see win it all I would like to see the other 4/6 knocked out.

(Yes, I know what the quote is.) When I first glanced at it, I saw the word "trammel", and in the context of playing Penn State, it confused me for the moment. Interesting - and a bit troubling - a coincidence. :-)

I was in at the web site at as close to 9 as it would allow. The first four or five refreshes of the page showed a seating chart with no tickets available. Finally it showed 'availability' in General Admission (it shows that right now); no "red' seats available. But for curiousity's sake I started down the process of buying GA seats: asked for four - can't fill that order; asked for two - can't fill that order; asked for one - can't fill that order. Seriously, what was the point of that? Why hype a sale of something that does not exist? It's like they work at finding ways of making the process even more annoying and aggravating.
