Pretty sure the Italy team that swept MN just got easily handled by TX… oof. Either a super off day for MN or a very good day for TX. Either way, I think this team has a lot of work to do to compete with the top 5 this year.

Giving Texas their dues, they will be fantastic this year, but I also think we had a very off day when we played the Italy team.

Texas is miles ahead of us (and every other team barring a couple). I would be floored with an elite 8 this year, and I still think that’s a tall task

But that team made MN look bad…. And TX just turned around and swept them.

I’ll be happy if we take a set off them in a few months, they’re just too stacked at every position. I just want an MN team that looks like they’re having fun again 🥲

I would be floored with an elite 8 this year, and I still think that’s a tall task I don't think that's being a downer, it's just realistic. Texas is a pretty obvious number on IMO, that bench is DEEP and I'm really hoping for a competitive match with them to start the season. Beyond that I'd be happy to see them make it to a sweet sixteen🤞 Please ladies... prove me wrong! But after last seasons disappointments and with the coaching staff change it's hard to put expectations on where they'll land among everyone else. For this season I just want to see a healthy Shaff, Grote continuing to do Grote things, passing improvement and more development of the team culture. I do have higher expectations for when Stella takes over though, she's already been fun to watch in the scrimmages.

However it plays out, I hope to see the OG top B1G teams beat out the newcomers (NE, WI, PSU, Purdue, MN) I know what you're saying and it's fine and well. But seeing Nebraska referred to as a Big Ten OG, I'm just like 🧐

Stella will play this year, but I fear not as much as any of us want her to.

Does anyone here have a trip planned for the showcase at Fiserv? Or know of people who are attending? Really hoping MN has some sort of home court advantage over Stanford and Texas!

Who knows… but post SSS there’s been a rollercoaster of setter injuries so I’m happy to have 2 high level setters competing for a starting spot

Looks like Texas lost to the same Italian junior national team that MN beat… travel will wear you down so I’m thinking it was an off match for both teams. Great experience though!

I wouldn't put much stock in these summer trainings. I doubt that UYBA's true level is the one shown against Texas, otherwise Texas would be one of the best teams in the world, since even Conegliano (the champion team in Italy and Europe this year) could not win by the same score as Texas. One would need to know who actually played and what their intentions were. I rule out that they played badly on purpose but something doesn't add up.
