wouldn't that then mean that they should put the competitive matches on ESPN 2? The "fans" of any given program will either be in attendance or find a way to watch. It's the casual "non fans" you have to worry about in terms of viewership. Not sure what the #1 seed demolishing a team is going to do for a non-fan casually watching. This Arkansas-Kentucky match is 10x better volleyball than the Nebraska/Georgia Tech match. for us, yes. I think for new fans, they're excited by one team being very, very high level, and that's why they start watching. For me, I was pulled in by watching Penn State play live in EL in 2009. I have my undergrad from MSU and we got THOMPED, but it was intriguing to see how good the sport could be. your point is taken tho, i think we agree but disagree about how the best way to get there might be. Also, in terms of "casual viewership" I'd bet my bottom dollar that there are A LOT more people in Kentucky and Arkansas casually watching ESPN 2 at any given time after the work hour, than people in Nebraska during the work day. |

I want to see Kentucky's season end on them taking a perfectly hittable ball, setting it over the net, Arkansas making easy work of it and denting the floor with an actual swing.
