She seemed really not into going to UH. If Amariis comes to UH, I wonder if Malu will reconsider

Chalei Reid was named the MVP of the tournament. Chalei beat out Suli Davis for the honor. Malinah was named Best Blocker, I think she was playing middle.

My personal expectations for Chalei are a little higher than I've had for recent Wahine recruits. I think she has what it takes.

I’m beginning to wonder if it’s possible that Malinah’s position of the future could be MB. She is only 6-0; but she is a good athlete, very mobile and strong. Blocking seems to be her strong suit and putting your best blocker in the middle may be the better option.
There could be other possible moves with our other MB recruits. Maybe Maddie to OPP? I mean, Maddie and Malinah are only 1 inch different in size so there should not be much of a difference. Someone even mentioned that Mili has the footwork to play OH. She would provide that size and powerful OH we seek.
Na Keiki Mauloa s going to be loaded with Malinah, Chalei and Mili on the team together. Hope Adrianna could join them but she has been at SAS for a while now so I’m guessing she will remain there.

Malinah is 6ft. Maddie is 6-1. One inch is not going to make all that much of a difference….especially if Malinah can jump pretty well. I can actually see her being fairly productive at MB. We’ll see where Robyn project her to play.

Malinah can absolutely hammer a quick set. I also wonder if she could be another Juliana Sanders or Kalei Adolpho. A local middle without much exposure, but the height and athleticism to be successful at the D1 level if trained.

I just don’t want another Akana 2.0 situation where Malinah isn’t getting the right reps to even develop as a pin hitter.
I think you gotta wait until we see her up against stronger club teams and see what position she is playing and how effective she is.
Also very unfortunate if Arquette is still at SAS, I thought playing for Robyn during the club season would have been a good fast forward towards her development as the next UH setter.

From the supernovas website;
“Amber Igiede, who was selected No. 7 overall, will be playing overseas. ”
Looks like she’s headed overseas, which is probably the best for her!

Makes sense, the American leagues are prob going to be best suited for players who still need some polishing post collegiately or pro veterans looking to settle down in the states.

Hopefully it's a place where she doesn't have to worry about being benched due to foreigner limits. Amber has the tools, she just needs the reps at a higher level with a competitive team that can hopefully take her there.
