In a PSA, Orzol is still hitting 40 points better than she did in 2021, when the Badgers won a national championship with her at L2. This is such a disingenuous argument. By the same token, I can say, the last time Orzol played L2, the Badgers failed to make the Final 4 for the only time in 5 years. In other words, Orzol was L2 when the Badgers failed to make the Final Four in the Field House. But that would similarly be a disingenuous statement. In another PSA, in 2021, that was the year Wisconsin had arguably the best setter in the country, arguably the best libero in the country, and the best middle (by far) in the country. This year, L and S have been weak spots, and the middle spot has been an endless source of hand-wringing and rotation. If Orzol wasn't terminating in 2021 that's fine, we have the best blocker in the country to slow down the other team's attack, Barnes and Civita were going to get to everything, and Hilley was going to deliver that transition set to whoever she wants to terminate. Give us Barnes and Hilley and Rettke back and no one will be wringing their hands over Orzol I promise. Now, I think Orzol has been fine at L2, and she has not been a problem this year for the team as we've drastically cut down her swings from even 2 years ago (something like 8 swings/set to 5 swings/set so far this year), but lately we've set her waaay too much in-system and OOS, when we have better options on the court. And in the past two matches, against Nebraska and OSU, they're starting to take away her finesse and roll shots, which is what she've been scoring a lot with. She should be the ball-control OH who can get kills here and there, but in the past few games, we've made her attacks the second main dish after Franklin. That's a problem.

Yeah, there were too many good passes that went to her, rather than middle/right, tonight. Just position stats other than Franklin (GOAT left side for Wisconsin), should go middle/right. Still, Orzol is having a statistically good season for hitting efficiency for a Wisconsin left side.

Maybe it was as simple as Orzol’s parents were there from Poland, so give her a few extra in-system sets?

It all gets a lot better with a healthy Lola and healthy GG. This team may still be too inconsistent on balls 1 and 2 to be F4 caliber even with those two. But those two shore up a lot of the problems. Saige filled in very well and I expect her to be a factor in what looks like a vicious libero completion in 2025 but right now I just think Lola is about 2 balls per set more reliable.

what does he say? I am video challenged at the moment. “We may never be there again after this year quite honestly which is how the landscape of sports is changing. This could be as deep of a team that could make a run to that elite 8, final 4 round. This is a special special senior class that has accomplished an a lot” - Kelly Sheffield That’s word for word. He's so good at virtually incoherent, word salad. Several half thoughts in just a few poorly constructed sentences. It's a smorgasbord! 😑

Just admit that you can't refute any of my points with actual substance so you have to resort to childish ad-hominem attacks and false equivalence fallacies so that we can move on. I have literally in this Wisconsin thread stated I have no problems with Orzol as our other outside plenty of times, especially a few weeks earlier when there were an explosion of posts stating Orzol is not terminal enough against good teams to be our L2 and asking her to be benched. I actually stated in the very post you quoted "I think Orzol has been fine at L2" lmao, or am I not allowed to make any sorts of suggestions about "problems" in our attack so you can see a completely sterile thread, oh dear czar?

I hope so, our best OOS setter atm unless Lola and Charlie are even better. Pessimistically her injury maybe season over but lets hope not.

She was actually in uniform during player introductions last night, for whatever reason, but clearly not ready to play; didn't go through any warm-up drills and was moving rather stiffly. I'm not particularly optimistic.

Kelly via Punzel:
“We had a tough time with a couple of their hitters,” Sheffield said. “Rader is just really good in how fast she’s getting off the ground and getting on the ball. Egan, she’s going to be a great player in this league for quite a few years, just how explosive she is and how fast she gets off the ground and on the ball. We were trying to make a lot of adjustments on both of those guys and were having a really tough time. A real credit to that team.
On Londot:
“She’s crafty but she’s also got a cannon,” Sheffield said. “She can work the court. She attacks very differently than a lot of people. With her approach she can kind of put you to sleep. It’s kind of a slow approach but then all of the sudden she gets on the ball and that’s thunder coming at you.
“She does a really good job of hitting the edges of the block. That’s what you’d expect an older, experienced player being able to do. You take away her first option or two options and she can get into other spaces. She doesn’t get overly frustrated. She feels comfortable taking what she’s given.
“I thought our block was set up in really good spaces. We didn’t lose track of her. I think a couple of her kills were really nice out of system swings from the back row. She’s a really nice player and I thought we did a really nice job of D-ing up on her.” ...
Ohio State found success repeatedly feeding the Badgers short serves. Many of those were aimed at Franklin, who fielded 48 of the Buckeyes’ 93 serves. Sheffield said his team got better at handling the short serves as the match wore on and setter Charlie Fuerbringer adjusted how the Badgers were attacking.
“It was the first team that consistently put a lot of short serves on us and then they were scheme blocking,” Sheffield said. “Once they started putting in short serves and scheme blocking, we were setting into their scheme. Then we started setting away from their scheme. Once you’re seeing what a team is trying to do, then you’re adjusting and adapting. I thought we did a good job of that. I thought Charlie set a really good match tonight.”
