I saw an unfamiliar face during the warm-ups, and looked at the team roster on UCLA's program sheet. No 11 Gordana Barac, 6-0 sophomore OH from Bosnia-Herzegovina. Her name school is listed Pero Slijepoevio, so I guess she came direct from across the atlantic. A much need help in the hitting arsenal.
She did not play in the game, and from the warm-ups, her hittings looked kind of off (maybe adjusting to the setters), but boy, she can pass and defend. If USC is forced to go 6-2, at least there is an alternative hitter/blocker to McBride.
Btw, she is not listed on the USC official roster yet (on the team website), maybe waiting for clearance from the NCAA. If she is a good and smart hitter, maybe Haley can use her later as the x-factor sub that few coaches have seen or scouted, ala Bibi Candelas in 2002. Dunning was worried about her in the championship final match as he has not seen her playing much as she was still not eligible yet in the first match at Palo Alto (USC won 3-2) and Haley held her from the return match at USC (Stanford won 3-2).

I remember that ploy by Mick and it worked to perfection; especially when Bibiana stepped it up and had a huge finals match.

The NCAA better start their investigation. It's obvious Haley is trying to pull a rabbit out of his hat. They shouldn't allow him to pull this kind of BS.

All it takes for an investigation to start is for people to send tips and info to the NCAA. Believe me, if MH did something underhanded, the NCAA would have gotten several complaints already from the volleyball community of coaches. This is how it's usually done. What, you think the Justice Dept all of a sudden decided to do an investigation on its own against Martha Stewart? No, she has enemies and they dish the dirt.
BIK, you could do it, too, if you can corroborrate your gut feelings with hard facts. Heck, I'd do it, too, if I had any facts that show impropriety or a violation of a rule.

And there are complaint's about ME screaming how USC and Mick Haley made a "DEAL WITH THE DEVIL". USC is above board with everything they have been doing, The new arena will not hurt in recruiting.

What are the criteria in relation to the NCAA?

I'm sure Mick and the USC Athletic Dept read every applicable subsection in the NCAA rulebook, dotted all the i's, and crossed all the t's to allow this girl to materialize this season.

What are the criteria in relation to the NCAA? Nothing illegal about it as long as the student-athlete is duly admitted, meets all NCAA eligibility requirements, and shows up for classes. Mia Jerkov didn't show up on the Cal campus until October of 2001. She was fulfilling her national team commitments before showing up in Berkeley against Oregon. OTOH - there was UCLA and Tanya Harding.
