SEC striking early with some commitments. Genevieve Harris (S) to Texas, many people had called that and then UGA announced two today. A Libero and Taylor Bruce who is pretty bouncy, but just 5'9. No announcement yet but if you connect the dots it sure looks like Henley Anderson is committed to Texas. We need to wait for a social media announcement from her, but I feel like that’s imminent. For me, those are more run of the mill. Elite program adds kids #1 and 2 from the board....snore. But Georgia adding two kids who are not unknown but certainly not no brainers in the first minute of recruiting. That's interesting to me.

It’s easy to take success for granted. Especially as a fan. When your team is on a run it can feel like it’s going to last forever, but that is definitely not the case. It all starts with recruiting. I know it feels like a given that Texas is always going to bring in top talent, and that’s true to an extent, but I still don’t take it for granted. As a Texas fan I’m more interested who is going to be the biggest challengers for SEC hegemony. I assume Florida and Kentucky, but maybe Georgia is getting ready to compete at a different level. It all starts with talent acquisition, whether from the high school ranks or the portal.

I just realized Florida is playing UCF during conference schedule... did they move to the SEC or am I missing something and looking like an idiot Since Vanderbilt doesn't start VB until the 2025 season and Okie State still doesn't field a VB team, the SEC and Big 12 both have an odd number of VB teams and therefore byes during the conference season. I'm assuming that Florida and UCF ended up with byes at the same time and therefore possible to schedule a match during conference play.

But I don't know if a 5'9 Oppo gets you to competing at a different level than they are currently. But then again, a 5'7 OH took Arkansas to the moon so maybe it'll pay off!
