Anyone know who is the new coach for Korea? Cesar Hernandez Gonzalez was fired after the Asian Games last year for a dreadful performance (the coach for the Korean men team was let go as well for a similarly horrid coaching).

Japan has invited Melissa Valdes and Jaja Santiago in the training camp. I wonder if the Fed is hopeful that atleast one of them will get the clearance to play for Japan before Olympics. But if not, they will be great inclusion to the team in the incoming years.
I just peep at Santiago's stats in the vleague and she is posting MVP numbers. No wonder why Japan wants her now.

Normally it is very very difficult (some would say almost impossible) for a foreigner to gain Japanese citizenship. But for athletes, how does that work? I am assuming it would be easier...but what is the process like?

Jaja Santiago doesn't have her Japanese citizenship yet. This is confirmed by her Japanese husband (former Ageo assistant coach, now coaching in the Philippines) today in his post. I believe there is also a rule that she still needs 2 years after getting the citizenship? I have no idea where Melissa is now in her citizenship process. She didn't have a good performance in the recent season though, coming from injury.

She is very tall 195cm and very good performance! Japanese never had a great mb after araki?

She may have had offers; but I think part of obtaining Japanese citizenship is living in the country for five years consecutively. Itβs a little harder than some countries in that you canβt be gone as often, IIRC from a friend who gained citizenship through marriage.

The only Bulgarian player that is having a good season imo is Merelin Nikolova. She has had a bit of a break out season this year.
France (to me) seems to be one of those teams where the players play better in NT season.

Azerbaijan, Czechia, Sweden and Turkey will host EuroVolley 2026. Hence Serbia, Netherlands, Italy, Poland, France, Bulgaria, Ukraine and Slovakia are qualified based on the final standing in EuroVolley 2023 while for example Germany will need to play qualifiers (first qualifier matches will be played in August this year). Qualifier pools: www-old.cev.eu/Competition-Area/competition.aspx?ID=1573&PID=2991
