Minus the USA players, who are the biggest names so far?

The question has always been which of these leagues can survive... (or either...) If I am a PVF owner, I am positioning myself to become part of LOVB right now... The next step is for LOVB to get players from Europe that are in their prime (Haak, Vargas, etc....). They currently are in a bit of the MLS mode of getting players past their best days.. As an ESPN+ subscriber, I am excited to see this model come to pass.. On just the specific thought of professional vb in the USA (take this with a grain of salt as I don't watch or particularly enjoy professional volleyball...I have yet to even go to a PVF match and I live in Vegas), I don't think that either PVF or LOVB has a large scale, financially lucrative, long term outlook as a professional league. Volleyball viewership and girls playing keeps going up, yet there is still only one college program that even turns a profit (we all know who it is), but somehow all these random markets across the country will consistently generate enough interest, at scale, for the leagues to be financially viable?... ![](https://media.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExem5mbjVwOGFvMmFlaGJ5bHo2NmVyb3oyNDUzZTc4Y3ZjNHB4N2JleiZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/mPAfmTMIGPZsqACDPf/giphy.gif)

But comparing to college finances isn’t fair. There are quite a few programs that would turn a profit if they operated on a reasonable budget rather than providing the absolute luxury that football money allows.

Not as much as before but still turns one

I think Nebraska is the only one that does. I remember someone (Lincoln arneal?) writing about it. The article was geared towards P5 school. I think Jaylen mentioned he thought Hawaii turned a profit. At least a couple of years ago the WVB team posted a slight profit (like less than 50k), so it's likely a balancing act.

We understand what type of crowds and how much the sport has grown but it still isn't there. I think women's college basketball hit that point in the past couple of years and now big name college stars are in the WNBA and more people are watching or at least paying attention. I think that is where women's volleyball needs to go in order for the pro leagues to somewhat do well
