New interview with Tom Hogan: www.facebook.com/volleyballmastercoaches/videos/728557609223801Talks about coaches and their teams Coaches and LOVB will develop the assistant coaching staffs together. Each city/team will have their own designated space for the pro team within the LOVB clubs facilities (teraflex courts, lockerrooms, etc) The competition arenas/venues have been signed, just not announced yet. They want venues where they can create a really good experience. They didn't want partially filled 20k size arenas. Arenas will range from 4k-ish up to 10k-ish potentially. They want the crowd/home fan environment to be good. All 84 players have been signed. Season One exceeded his expectations based on level of talent signed. 26 international players. Doesn't expect to add any more players between now and the start of season one. There is a lot of interest for season 2. Most of the athletes are on two year contracts. Coaches are similar. Players/agents negotiated their salaries individually. Plus benefits/accommodation/travel stuff. There are stipulations in some of their contracts to not talk about salaries? (im not 100% sure, during the 17th minute) Names-teams will keep being announced in the next few weeks. Talks about the process and wanting competitive teams across the league. They want to place players where it makes the most sense, whether it be ncaa or personal connections. Also wherever the athletes want to be and what part of the country they want to be in. ESPN is a multi-year agreement. There will be other domestic and intl streaming/tv partners to be announced. There will be 60 matches. 50% of it will be on ESPN networks. they're in discussions for replay/technology/stats stuff etc now. Want to use the in season tournament/triple crown to introduce youth athletes/the next generation to the higher level of volleyball and experience it. its a straight knockout (same as the finals) with the top two teams getting byes into the semifinals. finals host hasnt been determined. It wont be the top seed being host. Most likely will be neutral. Hopes it'll be announced by his next interview. Athletes will have one match per week for 2/3 of the season and then two matches for 1/3 of it. pro seaon and national team season will never overlap. ball partner will be announced soon. and apparel as well. cant comment on PVF players switching due to contractual agreements. interactions with agents has been good and welcome. season tickets will be available soon. there will be some open practices for people to go to. There will be 60 matches. 50% of it will be on ESPN networks. 60 matches: only 10 matches per team? Is this correct??? Seems a little off??

You don't play matches against yourself lol 6 teams: total matches for league: 60 : 10 matches per team: i am not saying who you play just 10 matches per team seems in correct? Why would LOVB pay coaches, players, staff for only 10 matches per team?? Avid quoted from video interview: really wondering if the quote is accurate?

Apparently, there are some other streaming plans under consideration, but they haven't been announced.

(the ten matches is just those on espn networks) Yeah, I'm not an expert on schedule making, but I found a round robin tournament calculator that said it takes 15 matches for six teams to all play each other once. So 60 matches makes it seem like everyone plays each other four times. I think the 60 number doesn't include the tournaments. So if I'm not mistaken, I think that each team would play 20 matches in the regular season, since they're playing the other five teams four teams each.

(the ten matches is just those on espn networks) I think it's 10 matches on espn (I thought I heard Hogan use the term "linear" to describe that platform) and 18 available on espn+. That's a total of 28 matches. Mick did the math of dividing 28 by 6, arriving at approx 4.5 per team (which would actually be double if you count the fact that two teams are involved in a match). Of course, these are averages only. Which matches are actually broadcast (the home team or a featured match-up, or do you blackout the home team for attendance purposes, etc.) remains to be seen. * I noticed that Hogan repeatedly said they were doing an amazing job. Me thinks the lady doth protest too much.

Yes, it's 10 matches on ESPN networks (not just ESPN but also ESPN2 and ESPNU) and 18 on ESPN+. The press release says the same.

To confirm some of the questionable math going on here...
Each of the 60 matches involves two teams.
60 x 2 ÷ 6 teams in the league = 20 matches per team.
Given the previously announced weekly match schedule, each team will get: - 2 or 3 midweek road matches - 2 or 3 midweek home matches - 4 or 6 weekend home matches - 4 or 6 weekend away matches - 5 neutral site matches
Although this would take 15 weeks (16 weeks if you count the in-season tournament), not the 14 they've announced.

There is a lot of interest for season 2. One thing that came up in the discussion after the interview was where the remaining unannounced players are coming from. I'm not sure if Daly Santana is being classified as an international player or not (Puerto Ricans are Americans but have their own athletics federation). But if so, then all 26 international players are accounted for. That means that the remaining players are all Americans, whether they played in PVF or international leagues.

I believe. Please check my math!?
