After yet another wild Big East season, I think we are back to the same starting point: Marquette and Creighton return everyone important and add some pieces so it's them at the top and literally everyone else in a Bingo hopper.
I think both CU and MU are top-15 caliber teams going into 2024. St Johns should be good again, but no promises. Xavier likely takes a step back so maybe expect DePaul to slide into 4th. I thought Butler and Georgetown took good steps in year one of new staffs but year two is hard to read. Villanova lost a ton in the portal and Seton Hall lost a few, as well. I feel confident about 1-2, but after that I am lost.

St. John's returns some talent: Erin Jones, Lodi, Walther. Stambrowska has some potential.
I would prefer them to get a 5-1 setter and let Jones hit, they also need to up their ball control. I really liked their defensive system when they had an Alexakou on their roster, but, they don't have a player like that.
I wonder what international talent they may have coming in, or if all the players I mentioned really do all return.

Who besides Skylar did Nova lose? Kiera Booth is transferring to Middle Tennessee. Whittingham and Campos entered the portal too.

As a huge KBB fan, due to her being a fellow Bulldog alum and the setter when I was there, I have Creighton, but Marquette is too good as a program to be going away any time soon! Great respect for both programs, and I love the Al McGuire Center as a venue!

UConn should rebound after a tough down year I think. DePaul return basically everyone so they’re a safe bet. Anyone know how the recruiting classes are looking for Georgetown, Butler, Nova and Seton Hall?

Who was Marquette able to add? No one via transfer portal as far as I know. Probably referring to the incoming first years.

Marquette is too good as a program to be going away any time soon! Hopefully they learn from the growing pains of playing really good teams in their non-conference schedule. Their SOS was the 5th hardest in the NCAA's, which is kinda crazy when you think about it.

I like Marquette playing a brutal schedule. Their goal should be a top 16 team, and hosting is the best way to get there. Their best chance is to play a ridiculously tough S.O.S No doubt! The tricky part is that they needed to win some of those games (Purdue first time and Wisconsin for sure) The tough schedule left them feeling vulnerable (imo) rather than confident. If they could have mixed some of those games with weaker opponents, it might have helped them in the long run. From September 1st -17th they played Purdue, Kansas, Pitt, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Oregon with only Milwaukee and Air Force as breathers. Even with all of that, if they don't drop a five setter to St. John's, they win the conference outright and probably host the first round.

Yeah - I don't think the issue for Marquette was the non-conference schedule. If they get one or both of those St Johns losses back, and one more win in non-con, they likely host for sure. Theis knows that, for now, he needs to prove himself outside of the BEast. That said, I could see it becoming more of a 3-4 bid league with the resurgence of St Johns and improvements at DePaul, Nova, Xavier, and Butler.
