Stupid question from somebody trying to keep better tabs on overseas play... Is there a shorthand hierarchy of the different leagues? Which are strongest? Do people know the tiers? Sorry if this is out there somewhere? probably something along these lines (the top teams in the league could probably move up a tier, the bottom teams down a tier) A: Italy, Turkey B: Russia, Poland, Brazil, Japan, China? (could probably dip down a tier) C: France, Germany D: everyone else (some of them like Romania, Greece, Switzerland, etc are higher than like Sweden or Finland) (more or less, this is very generalized) Where would you place PVF... and LOVB's potential?

Honestly, PVF was a D and the potential of LOVB is C on its first year(though I expect B the following year if they continue to attract more overseas players).

I think LOVB could very well be in B tier. Barring some sort of PVF style clash, they’ll be better than French and German teams. All those leagues have their best locals overseas. The biggest drawback for LOVB is the best USA outside hitters stayed overseas

If LOVB continue to pay their top guns/founders good money then they will obviously will stay. But there seem to be a big drop off in talent outside their main players which seem to include salary. That seems to be the advantage of PVF from LOVB.

I dont think that's necessarily unique to LOVB (having a drop off in talent) PVF's advantage is their structures are public (or relatively public).... but it does remain to be seen if they can do anything with it, they haven't so far in 1 (to almost 2) seasons.

I am going to use a couple of different examples here in an attempt to contextualize... I think ultimately that LOVB is going to be the Major Leagues and PVF (AAA). The PVF will continue to serve local markets well if they can survive on attendance, sponsorships and merchandise..... The best case scenario is that LOVB's arc is similar to MLS as they have already been able to attract 2nd/3rd tier international players... The question is will they be able to recruit and pay a top tier international talent and as mentioned above get all of the best American players to not go overseas.. I wish the best for both leagues... I thought the PVF product last year was solid for a first year endeavor. Based on the signings to date, it looks like it will be pretty similar this year... Many LOVB questions to still be answered but with the connectivity to the clubs, ESPN, Adidas, and a location model that will keep costs down... there is a lot ot be encouraged by...

I think its weird we havent had an AU updates in months. The seem to turn their attention on a sport based on season... Lacrosse runs through July... They were October/November last year... I would imagine we will start to see some stuff in August time frame... Of course, I could be wrong

I think its weird we havent had an AU updates in months. I'm thinking they'll make more noise post-Olympics.
