So what does UCLA still deserve an at large if they lose the MPSF?

Sounds like UCLA’s weakness this year is the libero.

So what does UCLA still deserve an at large if they lose the MPSF? They have all the weapons but the libero is the weakness

UCLA out-hit BYU .491 to .390 Out-dug BYU 36 to 26 Out-blocked BYU 10 to 1 But they lived and died from the service line. 28 errors to 3 aces while BYU had 27 errors to 11 acesBack to the drawing board with this line-up/libero situation! Sometimes it's annoying trying to analyze volleyball and all the cool stats that you see, and then it always seems to come back down to serve & pass.

So what does UCLA still deserve an at large if they lose the MPSF? Who else do you give it to? At this point, the 2 at-large bids are gonna come out of the MPSF and the Big West most likely. UCLA has better wins/SOS than anyone else in the MPSF. UCI is probably the only other contender if they don't win the Big West. Now if Hawaii wins the BW tourney and UCLA loses the MPSF tourney, I could see it coming down to the Bruins and Anteaters for that final spot but even then -- UCLA just has a better resume unless UCI plays out of their mind in BW conference play and picks up wins against Hawaii/Long Beach.

I've been saying since fall that Rama was the best OH on the team, glad he's finally gotten a chance to show it. Didn't watch the first few sets b/c I was out but I'm assuming Robinson was struggling with receive, which is why Knight was brought in.
Not going to bring up some of my other correct predictions about this team, but I'm just saying that Speraw has not been managing this team well and if you disagree then I can't help you. This team is too talented for Speraw to still be trying to find a reasonable lineup that can receive the ball and hit. They lost one player from last year, one player! And Rama/Robinson are better than Champlin/Knight! And still. It's really frustrating to see and at a certain point the blame has to go to Speraw. Some of y'all love to heroize him but man I have been so unimpressed this year.
Credit to BYU for hanging in there and getting a big win.

Even watching the game, UCLA looked far superior from the eye-test... except when it came to pass and serve. They looked abysmal from the service line.

#20 UCSD takes down #18 UCSB in 4.
Rick, it's time to retire. Some truly mind-blowingly bad decisions.
