tied 1-1
a bit hard to believe Lewis has struggle much this year watching them and their block tonight
still, KNipe not setting one of his better matches, just everything to the OH is so predictable
wonder if lack of play and not much challenge since UCLA has timing off
Knipe keeps foregoing obvious middle terminations to let Lewis set up their block - this is hard to watch
would be a bad loss for Beach if they don't turn this around soon. Lewis is jacked up

It seemed when Siapanis got that throw call against him, that turned the 3rd set towards Lewis.
replay looked like forward motion. just not a good not for him.
Beach will have to play a bit better next week vs. Penn State.

Beach has subbed out both Siapanis & Bouchkov tonight. Lewis didn't serve exceptionally tough, and it fell apart towards the end of the match. But early on they targeted Godbold and that caused problems. Siapanis was struggling then Harlan comes in and he and Briggs start covering in front of Godbold and receiving anything that came near him. Turned the match around. Bouchkov was subbed out after that call by the ref where Lewis threw the ball just as much as Siapanis had (which generally doesn't get called anymore) and Lazar was on the sidelines for a rotation and came storming out to the court protesting...could have gotten a yellow card but it was funny, the ref had that look of 'yeah, I 'f'd up that one' but he wasn't going to reverse it. I think Coach Knipe must have felt it would be best for Lazar to calm down. McRaven got some good time out there against a big and active opponent and did well himself.

Knipes setting fundamentals and Knipes cry baby coaching was on full display at the pyramid tonight!!! As to Coach Knipe being a cry baby, that's b.s. the refs gave some questionable calls and Knipe had to use his challenge cards to reverse some of those, the Lewis coach was all over the refs too. All the top coaches do this stuff, calling out Knipe for it is weak. I've seen Coach Knipe get far more nuclear than anything last night. He works the refs, so what? Its his job to get every advantage possible, and part of it last night was his team was a bit flat and he was trying to pump them up. Calling it crying is pitiful.

The calls mentioned above did not seem like anything that would have normally been called in any recent men’s VB match. Siapanis’ called throw (Knipe had a valid beef), Lewis out of rotation (seriously??), Roquet’s block that looked more like a catch and throw (I think refs call less on a block like that). I do feel a yellow card should have come out on the Siapanis call and the Roquet no call since the reaction was so big and lasted so long and involved so many players/coaches and so much time. Then, after the Siapanis call, Knipe used a TO - that was a smart move.

It seemed when Siapanis got that throw call against him, that turned the 3rd set towards Lewis. replay looked like forward motion. just not a good not for him. Beach will have to play a bit better next week vs. Penn State. Seen many many worse throws ignored this year, it's intentional and the refs are allowing it. Many in the same match last night, before the call. Thought Siapanis and Knipe had a point to argue it. But was also feeling before that call, when or if Saipanis would take a swing again. I felt some sympathy for the Up Ref calling it.
