I was hoping to catch at least part of this after coaching this morning. It was over too quick 😂

I'm really curious as to how GCU performs in the Outrigger tournament against the likes of UCI (who I think can keep up with them from the service line and maybe defensively) and Hawaii.
They're certainly the #1 team in the country but I also think the teams they've faced haven't exposed them like I think others can.
Also can't wait for the UCLA series in April.

I would not be surprised at all by however they do in Manoa. Tough travel and competition. They could easily come out of the weekend 3-0, but 1 or 2 wins would not surprise me either. Having Lewis last is a tough draw in the schedule as fatigue could be a factor against the lowest ranked of the 3 teams.

Saturday off and resume play Sunday Afternoon 4pm Hawaii time. The more challenging issue will be that if GCU were to beat UCI and Hawaii, would there be a letdown against Lewis. The day off could kill their momentum. On the other end, if they were to lose to both UCI and UH, what will their mindset be going into thr final match of the tournament. Everyone is in the same boat. I don’t see fatigue as in issue. The tournament is played in a well air conditioned arena(sometimes even too chilly) so nobody will be at any advantage or disadvantage as far as fatigue is concerned.

There could be a little fatigue factor. Guys are banged up after a couple of matches (especially when they are 2 top 5 matchups). There is not an advantage/disadvantage for any team with this, just the truth of what the Sunday matches will be. And yes, the Stan is a cold gym (actually most of the bigger arenas are).

If GCU can handle the ball well and feed their middles, could easily see them going 3-0 at the Outrigger. I think UCI’s height and blocking could be a big difference, as the Lopes aren’t very big on the pins

I think if Gianni has an off night against either UCI or Hawaii, I don’t see them winning that two matches. I haven’t seen a lot of Rogers playing this year but from what I have seen, he is probably their weak link.

Hawaii will be ready. Will be a great Outrigger for sure!

Look at it this way....the NCAA post season will be in this format (3 Matches in 4 days). GCU can look at this as a preparation for the championship. Top level competition for 3 nights. UCLA came for the Outrigger last season and they ended up as National champ.
