For Purdue: Middles have been alternating between sets. Set 1: Colvin/Myers; Set 2: Carr/Myers; Set 3: Colvin/Carr OPP have been different each set. Heaney, then Wollard, then Rastovski Allie Shondell subbed in toward the back half of set 3 and stayed in. Hornung, Hudson, Chicoine, McAleer have played every set. So glad to see Allie Shondell out there. With Yim hurt, they definitely need another strong Setter.

Set 4 (Purdue)
S: Anderson front row; Shondell back row OPP: Heaney (DS: Kane)
Hudson started the set but was subbed for Wollard, who played 6-rotations.
McAleer subbed in as libero midway through the set.
The only Purdue player who didn't see court time was Yim, who is injured. Williams played serving sub (set 2-4)

Purdue gets the Old Oaken Bucket, spring VB edition.
Better than a Brass Spittoon, I suppose.

Without Haworth, the Hoosiers were not very competitive. So I don’t know how much weight you can apply to the sweep. But I like the vibe of this Boilers team. They are VERY competitive and look to have a lot of fun out there. Gonna be interesting to see what they can be this fall.

It’s a limited sample size, but which of the options at Opposite looks to be the presumptive starter at this point?

Hayworth makes a big difference but Purdue looks much more aggressive and balanced.

I have been most interested in seeing what Indiana will look like in 2024. With the addition of four top 40 programs arriving, I wonder if their chances of making the tournament increase or decrease. Are they getting any help in the fall with freshman arrivals? Their offense on this film had a hard time hitting around the block.

They all seem pretty solid in their own respective positions but Daum is the only one nationally ranked (#68 PrepDig) according to the article

Daum may be on the shelf for a while as Tatum, who currently plays opposite, is IU’s best attacker.

They are VERY competitive and look to have a lot of fun out there. Gonna be interesting to see what they can be this fall. People completely overrate spring matches every single year, which is why I think MANY schools downplay the fact that they are even happening. They are only actually useful to determine how new pieces may fit in with the team in the fall. Other than that, they should be ignored. The key to Indiana will be whether or not Saris can get back to and improve upon her 2022 form and how fast the middles can adjust to the speed of the college game. If those things fall into place, Indiana will be a very tough out for most teams next year.
