So after surviving a thrilling relegation battle, Sarıyer might be folding😢 Speculation that PTT (who lost that battle) might buy them out, or Istanbul BBSK (who finished 3rd in the second division and also have a football team to draw fans from) might replace them. that's what they get for not renewing with Chatchu-on! jk i know Saryier has had budget issues so this makes sense their games are free admission so all the income they get comes from tvf tv/streaming rights and sponsorship. And it sounds like they havent been able to land a sponsor. They had to let a couple international players go midseason because they couldnt pay them.

Istanbul BBSK has a football team? I can't find anything about a football team on English- or Turkish-language Wikipedia or, most notably, on the club's official website.

Something that makes no sense to me is how Turkish clubs have youth tryouts with height requirements that are absolutely ridiculous. For example, players born in 2007 need to be at least 1.83 meters tall to participate in Beşiktaş'. There are non-defensive players on Turkey's senior national team that aren't even that tall. And one of the best players in Turkish club volleyball the last several years, Gabi, isn't that tall either.

Ozil played for them at the end of his career, although apparently the clubs are not affiliated and the football team rebranded slightly

i think their thought process is that you can teach athleticism but you can't teach height... but i agree the rule is stupid lol. so so so so so many talented players are/were under 6 feet tall.
