Is George using a Covid year? He graduated HS in 2019 and didn't seem to be on the roster for USC last year. Gabe leaving UCSD has got to be a surprise, he graduated HS in 2021 so true Senior. Does he walk into the starting spot at Pepperdine? Moves Graves and Stewart to the bench to develop waiting on the young OHs to arrive on campus Hartke and Lamoureux. Kubr leaving for Hawaii opened up the spot for this to all happen? |

Kubr probably knew Gabe Dyer was coming. He only played in 1 match for Pepp this season with both freshman setting ahead of him. Pepperdine trivia... George and Gabe will join their brother (Noah) and sisters (Heidi and Lily) in having played vb for the Waves!

It looks to me like Rama drops his contact point lower on the right. He also doesn’t have the power that oppos are expected to have. I think Robinson is pretty good on the right and they could pull him in for serve receive. From observing speraw over the years he treats oh and opp as distinct positions and does not do much swapping unlike say David Kniffin who interchanges the two. I would also like to see david decker get some PT he’s 6’8 and looks very athletic in hitting lines. If Ido doesn’t improve they’re gonna have to figure something out I'm dying to see what Decker can do. Would love to see him get court time next year, especially if Rowan and David can't find their connection. Decker is the player that looks amazing on paper and visually because of his height and being left handed. Not very good in actual games. I've seen in club and high school first hand. |

I think Decker came in as a projectable player, e.g. a high school pitcher who is 6'5" and throws 90 mph but is wild. College coaches love to take that guy and mold them into a starter. As a redshirt sophomore this season, Decker will see more court time and hopefully develop into a solid oppo option for the next few seasons.

I can't remember specifics the first year, but the last year him and the other L Glenn both were side lined for Chalmers who was used as L due to passing issues. Chalmers had been starting OH the earlier matches in the season and past seasons, Coordt took his spot but the move seemed to be more about the L position than the OH. Maybe he got into Stanford on achedemics alone and they are not deep at L, passing OH. I thought Stanford didn't do graduate athletic scholarships. |
