Yup! The newbies learned the hard way. And they lose all their top guns so idk when they will even make it back to this position. Best of luck to them and their seniors. What I meant to say is GCU will be fine. Herr is a good setter coming in, middles are set, and pins will be replaced. I’m not a GCU fan but they’re not going away. |

It's embarrassing for GCU with all their experienced players to have let their emotions get the better of them. They were not only leading 2-0 in the match but also up in the 3rd set playing ahead. GCU isn't experienced in the post-season, and they were up mainly because Long Beach let their emotions/nerves get in the way, including several untimely nets and sloppy plays at crucial times. Nevertheless, both matches today were tremendous fun to watch and a testament to the fact that men's volleyball is one of the most exciting and entertaining sports there is. |

those were two fun matches
just tough to watch Tangutur go down so early, and Kniffen had to go to experiment mode.
Shewie really was a difference this year.
games turn on a couple of points. If Irvine had got that wild point in teh 5th with Henno serving to go up 2, who knows. UCLA grinded that out, and get Henno off the serve, and backrow, with McHenry rotating back in. just had the feel if Irvine could have got that point...
& Harlan in the 2nd match, dude matched Hickman's cockiness. just was scoring with dinks and nickel and diming off GCU, until that big smash to stop Gianni's 5th set serving run.
Beach got great off the bench play from Harlan and Hills, an survived a couple of KNipe's sets early. Credit Knipe though with some fine dumps, something he just couldn't seem to score on those in these past pressure matches. GCU passing just lost their edge as the match wore on, and negated Slight.

5th set LB vs. GCU. It was loud. The energy was electric. It felt like a Guns N' Roses concert... I saw coach Speraw yawning. Maybe he was emotionally exhausted.
Please do not miss your serve when Simon Torwie is blocking.
Great job Dane Hillis and Nate Harlan!!
Men's volleyball is elegant to watch. It's classy and super entertaining.
