Godbold just didn't have it, couldn't put in or on any pressure from the end line, and teams are gonna target him on serve Harlan subbed in to serve for Godbold early 3rd set, and that was that then Harlan's monstrous solo timed block on Gianni set Hickman off with Harlan chirping. and Hickman responded, it's like dude your team got roofed, shut up, so HIckman gets the yellow card...too bad! Hickman was pointing at Ohio State on Tuesday after points, I guess that's his schtick, lol. after that Beach owned that bitch. all talk but Beach shut that guy up. Hickman I like, his serve was so effective and big reason GCU won the first set Huge win, Knipe had a couple early ugly sets, one late first set on a critical point lost. Varga so consistent. but Harlan, just nickeled and dimed to score however he could. finally got a huge point of the match after GCU clawed to 9-10, to keep that Beach lead. huge point with Gianni serving a bit like the 11-10 point Henno serving in the 5th earlier, with McHenry set to return, and UCLA winning that has massive back and forth point, not sure if UCLA could have survived down 12-10 with Henno serving. then McHenry comes in and it was over. Funny seeing a comment like this. It’s an emotional game, let emotions fly. As a spectator, you have no idea what’s being said. Both sides are talking to each other. You make assumptions based off of your bias and it’s funny. Keep typing, you’re good at it. Let the guys play some ball and entertain. Tired of seeing dumb accusations like this. Especially from guys who have physically can’t jump an inch.

What a fun match, I personally love it when guys talk smack to each other. It's the semi finals they don't need motivation they all know what's at stake. Solid game all around, Anderson was great the first two sets and kind of disappeared after that for GCU. Not sure about GCUs strategy of consistently float serving, it didn't put enough pressure on the serve receive of Long Beach. Those first two sets could've gone either way and Beach fought back from set points to go extra in both so they just had to clean things up a little. Sapanis was awful in those first two but Knipe stayed with him and he heated up.
I think Beach beats UCLA in 4 on Saturday.

Lesson in sports psychology. GCU had all the momentum in the third set up 2-0. Long Beach was on their heels and the crowd was out of it. Then Hickman went off. He got the Beach players and the crowd fired up. A switch was flipped. Why taunt and anger a team that you have in a corner? Not a good move. The momentum changed and Long Beach took control. You could see it in their eyes. They were not going to let the trash talk get the best of them. From there they changed the standard of their play and the crowd roared back the rest of the way. . GCU coaches should control that kind of thing. Its on thing to get jacked with your own players and the crowd. However, when you do it across the net you take a big risk. Long Beach veterans responded. Once the third set was over I new Long Beach had the match. GCU completely lost focus when they decided it was a good idea to taunt the crowd. They were never the same after that.

It was a stupid move on Hickman and then to see Gianni gesturing to the crowd to get louder after he hit a BIC. It was from that moment on it made me realize that GCU is so wet behind the ears in the NCAA tournament they basically sealed their own kiss of death. Things changed and you could see the LBSU flip into another gear and the crowd got louder and louder. And that momentum was purely unstoppable after that. It was painful to watch as someone that was genuinely rooting for them though im not a Lopes fan.

Lack of composure and maturity lost it for GCU, Hickman’s chirping brought LB back into it and they paid the price

I was there, seems you weren't. but keep typing, even when you are not good at it.

Godbold just had no rhythm serving first two sets. after the Gianni-Hickman serve rotation, Grand Canyon lacked pressure. Beach service pressure is constant, especially once Harlan was added, and then throw in HIllis has emerged as well. All that wore on GCU as the game went on. with UCLA just never know how their serve receive will be, Beach definintly has the receive advantage, I think UCLA though will put on more service pressure if David can serve like he did.

Long Beach veterans responded. Once the third set was over I new Long Beach had the match. that's part of it. Credit has to go to Knipe for pulling Godbold and doing it early in that 3rd set. Godbold was not making enough plays and is a target in the backrow. I wonder if KNipe will go with Godbold on Saturday. If Godbold's serve is on, he's got a better arm than Harlan and explosive BIC, but for the finals, UCLA will serve at Godbold unmercifully on Saturday if they see him back there. Harlan is cool and creative, even got a left handed kill tonight. It's a tough decision. Classic trade-off. Speraw has some tough ones as well. I kind of expect Godbold to start. Godbold pulverized Irvine in Hawaii. Godbold was icing his knee after he left as well, but I think that's been normal precaution. I think start Godbold have Mason cover him a little more on receive and set him regularly, get his mind in a zone, see if he can bring that crazy serve pressure he did v Irvine. If that isn't working sub in Harlan at the right time. I hate saying this but its almost like UCLA needs to get the Beach in a corner Saturday, we need a couple big plays and maybe hearing trash from the Bruins to get us that fired up edge. Seems to be the team dynamic, start slow almost be pedestrian even in a big match, then it hits like a tornado and they start a momentum that can't be stopped easily.

You know it's bad when LBSU fans are talking about other team's antics...

Do the Bruins ever 'trash'? I thought their schtick was act like they own the court and are gracing you with their presence...
