Worth sharing with VT. Got up at 4 a.m. Central Thursday, 2 a.m. Pacific. Drove to New Orleans. Flew to L.A. Got at least four minutes of sleep on the flight. Went to Hermosa Beach and had breakfast with Travis Mewhirter. Came to my hotel in Long Beach and got at least another four minutes of sleep. Went to volleyball and had a blast. Such great matches and saw so, so many people I hadn't seen in a while. But after the second set, a UCLA kid who doesn't play for a reason, missed a pepper ball that hit me square on the bridge of my nose, knocked off my glasses and bruised my nose. Glasses OK, no blood. I took one for the readers. After the final news conferences, got back to the hotel and turned off the light about 11:30 p.m. It was a long day. Which is why I waited till this morning to write, plus Jim needed time to go through the literally thousands of photos he takes. On to Friday practices and press conferences in a while. Should be a great final.

Gulf Shores hires a bunch of reputable talent to put out the ESPN platforms on commentary. We had 1/4s and semis with that were hard to sit through. There is plenty of reputable talent out there who actually follow college volleyball, particularly men's indoor. Last year at Fairfax it was fitting to have the Coach of George Mason who is also a very entertaining personality who actually KNOWS the analysis and the athletes. Then you can throw in some one who actually KNOWS volleyball as a pxp. NCAA Men's VB deserves better. It's not that hard. Get non-volley dudes out. When they fake it, it shows.
