For that 3-1 win, the USA gains .8 world ranking points. At this rate, they won't get back into the #1 spot in my lifetime. world ranking is just icing on the cake anyways

The need at opposite is way larger than the need at OH though. There’s already a logjam at OH I have long term sights on Anna Smrek as USA opposite! With Cuban Turks and Russian Italians all the rage…. when yall are scouting players who you want to be great on the next level, look for a high contact point, a good fluid approach in all situations, strong arm speed/strength and then good range/shot selection. All the great opposites have all or most of these things |

Be contrary all you like but you can't deny that right… so if USA wanted to bring Hall and they didn’t drop Rettke, we’d have Chiaka, Rettke, and Hall. three middles who prefer quicks when we have fraudulent opposites sounds terrible Rettke’s been used as both an M1 and M2 throughout the season, and she’s looked strong both in front and on the slide. I think the reason her quick attack is standing out is just because we haven’t seen it as much as her slide. Her blocking’s also looking better from what I’ve watched of the pro season. I have concerns with how well the USA setters will set Rettke this summer, but if the connection’s there, she’ll be on the roster, either as the M1 or as the bench middle who can sub in for either Ogbogu/the M1 (presumably Washington) whenever needed. |

Playing M. Skinner at opp is a shame because she could push for an OH spot in Paris. That competition would jumble the vibe for her sister and Larson for sure, but I’ve seen enough to say she’s a generational talent. There is not a chance. She cannot pass. |

I hate the notion that a serve into the tape is worse than a serve out of bounds. When the goal is to go both to the edges of the court AND keep the ball low to the net, expect both types of errors. And just then we saw USA with a long out serve high above the net like Karch wanted, and then Thailand killed the US with a low to the net serve that easily could’ve gone into the net if just a little less precise. I’ve never seen a passer pass a ball that didn’t go over the net, but I’ve seen a passer pass a ball that was going out |
