Kind of interesting that the selections for Beach are from Tennesse Utah Wisconsin Texas Missouri Florida North Carolina Where are all the California guys who grow up playing on sand every weekend? Most of the So Cal guys are still playing indoors hoping to play in college. Since there is no men's beach in college, it behooves them to play indoor at Nationals. Beach tournaments down here pick up attendance a lot in July.

Colleges with men's beach programs (or at least all of these teams played Stevenson's beach program last year) - Stevenson
- Webber
- Erskine
- Liberty
- University of Delaware
- Reinhardt University
- Westcliff
- Lincoln Memorial
- Tusculum

Things I found notable from Off The Block's great interview: - Alviar outplayed Larson for the spot this week (coach acknowledges this might be surprising to many) - Coach says that Cryst is an 07??? Also USA Schedule for Groups (pretty sure times are pacific time): June 11 4:00 pm Nicaragua vs United States June 12 4:00 pm Suriname vs United States June 13 8:00 pm Mexico vs United States Probably means that he is a 2007 birthday. To clarify: Coach said that he was eligible for the next U21 cycle, which I am interpreting as he is eligible for the current U19 cycle, and since he's a 2025 grad it makes sense he would be an 07 birthdate.

So yes, it's still surprising as these are guys that the SoCal guys will be playing indoor at Nationals as well. The timeline is different as the training block is actually built around SoCal Showcase.

I stopped trying to figure out how some kids get invites to beach NTDP, and yet never play in any beach tournaments. Where-as others play in tournaments all the time, and never get invites.

Very murky and coaches always pick favorites. Does anyone really think the loyola middle is better than Aruya or the Princeton middle that didn’t even make it? No surprise that Loyola is also one of the teams going hardest after Cryst.

WOAH really surprised that Alviar made it over Larson. Larson was the clear #1 for the U19 cycles over Alviar. Also interesting that Cryst and Klein were preferred to Whitfield and Jordan. Surprised too that Taliaferro was preferred to Blanchette (almost wonder if Blanchette was told he wasn't going to start and decided to ask for time off?) Just can't really understand that one given Blanchette was very decent at USC this year. And finally, we have to do the one opp thing again too? One US team with only one opposite for the olympics wasn't enough? Larson’s passing was horrible at u19 , granted so were Foley and Kelly. The way they passed against Nicaragua wasn’t enouraging either, France will just keep serving these guys off the court if they don’t improve by a lot.

Good point we probably have to keep in mind the level of competition at NORCECA vs World Championship in 2023 is very different.

I wouldn't say the three were horrible last summer as a unit but it was far from adaquate enough to win compete in the semi final against France or the 3rd place match against Korea(?) Larson compared to the Korean L was shocking but the US service pressure was not great compared to France or Korea. These teams are for development and Norseca is a likely lock to qualify so if there are players that are very close I would prefer to see a new face, since the ultimate goal is the senior team being the best it can be and the wider a net cast, the better so we can see what these guys respond in real situations.

USA wins the semis over Cuba 3-0 (25-20, 25-21, 25-16) in a not particularly close fashion. Kelly hit .600, Hartke hit .556 at Opp, Rosenthal had 5 blocks + 3 aces, and Alviar had 7 digs and some catlike reflexes.
They advance to play Canada in the final at 6pm PST tomorrow.

Another top recruit bout to get ruined at USC. Tomkinson leveled up quite a bit as well.
