I fear I still have to root for Omaha in a SDSU vs Omaha championship, even if Shayla McCormick was terrible for my fantasy team last year and Kali Jurgensmeier got 6-2’d this year

Jackrabbits RPI means they *should* get into the NCAA tourney even as an at-large bid, so Omaha winning the AQ should put them both in. That would open the door wider for UST (and SD) to get invited to the NIVC.

USD has never run a 6-2 to my knowledge, although the top-2 Summit teams apparently were... It must have some value (I'm not great on the Xs and Os). Although, I would say the bigger commonality between SDSU, Omaha and St Thomas was that they were all fairly low-error teams. USD has the talent to compete with that group, but not the consistency. We were a young team this year, so I'm hoping that we will see some improvement in consistency in 2025. From a fantasy standpoint McKenna Ruch is the biggest league loss in 2025, maybe followed by the 6-rotations Shayla McCormick, Kylen Sealock... most of the other stat-stuffers return, plus some new ones from SDSU and St Thomas. best returning fantasy players off the top of my head (with a little research):6-rotation OH's: 1. Sylvie Zgonc (SDSU) - lead all season in Kills, points, OK digs/aces 2. Lauren Medeck (USD) - increased role? - Kills, Digs 2. Ellie Gustafson (UST) - increased role? - Kills, Digs MB/OPP: 1. Sydni Schetnan (SDSU) - lead in Blocks, Hitting%, good Kills 2. Madison Burr (SDSU) - close 2nd in blocks, Hitting%, OK Kills 3. Megan Wetter (UST) - great in blocks, Hitting%, OK Kills 4. Kali Jurgensmeier (Omaha) - great kills, blocks, increased role?* 5. Morgan Bode (USD) - good blocks, ok kills 6. Emily Huss (Omaha) -great blocks increased role?* 7. Amanda Loschen (USD) - great kills, hitting %, ok blocks - late bloomer Setters: 1. Avery Van Hook (USD) - lead all season in Assists, good digs, ok blocks, aces 2. Morgan Kealy (UST) - 2nd in Assists, good digs Liberos: 1. Kamryn Farris (USD) - lead all conference season Digs, Good Aces 2. Ella Voegele (UST) - close 2nd in Digs *could be much higher on the list. Not sure if Kali J ever plays back row?

2025 Fantasy Honorable Mentions/ Wildcards (that I know about):
Amanda Hardt OH/OPP/MB (Omaha) - could also see an increased role with Ruch/ McCormick departures Audrey Nelson MB (USD) - played well early in season (freshman) before Loschen took the spot back as #2 MB. I could see Loschen moving back to OPP with two starting OH graduating.
2025 Freshmen (from fantasy elligible teams)
Jordyn Anderson - Omaha - Setter/MB (Inside Out) Faith Venable ---- Omaha - MB/OH ----(VCNebraska)
Ava Ball -------- USD - OH ------(Northern Lights) Kate Holthaus -- USD - OPP/OH (Northern Lights) Cate Legel ------ USD - OH -----(Kairos) Sierra Pokharel - USD - Libero (Premier Nebraska) Ella Rogers ----- USD - Setter (Six Pack)
Hannah Klein --- SDSU - OH ---(Kandi Elite) Brooke Larsen -- SDSU - Setter (Premier Nebraska) Maggie Meister - SDSU - Libero (Kairos Elite)
Emory Brosnahan - St. Thomas - OH (Kairos Elite) Reilly Kurth -------- St. Thomas - MB (Minnesota Select) Addison Menefee -- St. Thomas - OH (Houston Juniors) Camryn Overton -- St. Thomas - OH (Iowa Powerplex) Anya Schmidt ----- St. Thomas - OPP (Club Velocity) Heidi Wingate ----- St. Thomas - MB (Houston Juniors)
personally I don't see any of USD's 2025 freshmen cracking the starting line-up, unless one of the OH emerges. Maybe Pokharel at DS/ backup L. On the rest, maybe some of you that follow recruiting closely might have an idea.

Being I am a West river SD native and having previously lived in Lincoln for about 18 years, my unhealthy dislike for all things Omaha will have me wildly rooting for both SD teams... However.... if I put aside my ridiculous disdain for Omaha, the best thing for the Summit league as a whole would be for Omaha to get the aq AND for SDSU to somehow get an at-large bid. Checking out some of the threads, I think there would be riots in the streets if they gave SDSU a bid, but I honestly think they deserve it based on their performance. It would up the anti for all summit league teams to get some better pre season games. Omaha and USD have proven themselves so they get some better pre season matchups. If the committee gives SDSU a chance, that would be another door opening to make the Summit league more competitive. Win.. win...

Yeah, no question that an at-large would help open the door for SDSU to get a better non-con... but would they walk through that door? Denver didn't after the 2018 auto-bid. Some coaches just prefer to schedule wins. I can understand why the committee might not extend the at-large. SOS wasn't great. BUT I do think the Jacks are deserving of it with the eye test.

Your right, their SOS was NOT good preseason (can't control the conference SOS... hazard of mid majors). I too would understand the committee not giving them an at-large bid... and time will tell if the coaching staff at SDSU decides to have a tougher nonconference schedule... I hope they do but who knows
