I mean...they have to change their lineup. They're missing their A and A- OH... They still seemingly haven't figured out their starting MB's if there even are true starters for that position. This team just does not look good - right now. I gave Ottawa a pass, meh whatever. But now they have what, five weeks(?) to get it together, or it's gonna be Tokyo all over again. I can see why people is a little concerned because even if they are missing Aaron and Thomas, Matuatigia is there who is going to the olympics so in theory should be the one stepping up along with TJ and not Ewert. It was the olympics starting line up that was playing there except Ewert. The drop off of play with only one non-olympic position being played should not be that huge. the drop off is huge |

he's so in love with his petri dish method of coaching, sans drawing much if any logical conclusions
would be interesting to find out from himi as to what he's actually learning from these experiements.
I think he has 3 roster spots that are iill advised.

They lost to a Türkiye team that has been struggling and only has 1 win -- against Iran! I don't care if we are missing Jaeschke and Russell -- this right here is inexcusable. We are not ready. |

Garret should not be on the Olympic roster, he is a wasted spot. Give the spot to Ewert his ceiling is higher than Garetts. I love Matt Anderson but he just doesn’t have the same pop, controversial but we should have taken a back up Op and left Avril or Smith if he’s injured .

Team everywhere has problem, inconsistent poor Matt with no true backup oppo, Garret exposed his low-tier ability when giving starting position, middles attacking are digged everywhere and three-men block seem to be non-exist, serving has no pressure on the oppo, TJ doing all the work for all OH and all Oppo. Paris will not be better than Tokyo. No quality training, everyone looks tired, including Speraw. Tears again this Olympics.

As we know every team is pumped to play the USA and bring energy to the match.
I don't think the USA players ....and perhaps coaches mindset for this particular VNL was what we anticipated and honestly I'm ok with that.
Could care less what pool we are in.
Could care less what teams are playing great in the VNL Finals at the end of June...cuz it won't matter.
Once the whistle blows in Paris....THEN it's GAME ON!
The Olympics is a completely different animal and this particular team we have WILL be ready to elevate its focus, energy and sense of desperation that it requires.
I really feel we will be just fine and will be in contention for gold. ⛳

Today Speraw let TJ played oppo in some rotations, but obviosuly, he is not very accustomed. This problem will be more serious when in Olympics. I thought Speraw has a solution, but no, he doesn't. I don't know if Speraw truly realizes the team's current depressing situation: getting out of pool play will be difficult. If everybody is aware, then fine, I guess expectation is low; if thinking adding Aaron/Tommy being healthy can solve all the problems(definitely some), that is just unrealistic. |

If they consistently bring the match level facing Argentina, I am fine. Sadly, no. So many concerning is correct. |

garret muagututia should not be going to the olympics. He is a good role player when the team needs passing and solid off the bench play. He can not start a match or even a set and he especially can not be effective when the other 4 hitters on the court are not carrying the majority of the offensive load. |

Which players are done after this quad?
Anderson, Holt, Smith, Averill, Garrett presumably
Russell?, Jaeschke? given how injury prone they are
Christenson, Shoji, TJ, and Micah hopefully stay on and would be a good foundation to build upon. There is a lot of young talent coming out of the NCAA, who I think deserve a shot at development.
