As we know every team is pumped to play the USA and bring energy to the match. I don't think the USA players ....and perhaps coaches mindset for this particular VNL was what we anticipated and honestly I'm ok with that. Could care less what pool we are in. Could care less what teams are playing great in the VNL Finals at the end of June...cuz it won't matter. Once the whistle blows in Paris....THEN it's GAME ON! The Olympics is a completely different animal and this particular team we have WILL be ready to elevate its focus, energy and sense of desperation that it requires. I really feel we will be just fine and will be in contention for golf. I agree with most all of this, with one exception... I am not so sure we will be fine... and also I am not familiar with the team's golf game. It is concerning to me that the roster put on the floor today couldn't beat this Iran team. I haven't watched the game yet but I did not expect Iran to be able to play at a level that this result could be anything other than concern for team USA.

garret muagututia should not be going to the olympics. He is a good role player when the team needs passing and solid off the bench play. He can not start a match or even a set and he especially can not be effective when the other 4 hitters on the court are not carrying the majority of the offensive load. Good ain't gonna cut it.

USA players need to get right and stop getting injured.. something is just off if this keeps happening. The men are making the woman looks good right now and I thought they were the biggest mess.

I was passing through Manila and saw an ad for this match so I went. It was incredibly disappointing but largely because the lack of effort from the US was palpable. Not sure why Anderson played at all, but also why Speraw didn't pull him after Game 1 when he was so clearly giving 60% effort. I left after Game 3 even though I haven't been to an indoor match in years. Probably should have been a sweep but Iran couldn't serve in in Game 1. That said, I don't see how anyone can draw a conclusion about the Olympics from a match when everyone who will play in the Olympics was either not here or not playing hard. Ewert, Muagututia, and Averill were all really poor (At least Ewert seemed to be trying hard) but I can't imagine they will actually play in the Olympics will they?

And gave them their first win right? I’m weak lol LOL this is actually insane. Iran has lost to a young, inexperienced Bulgarian team run by a 17 year old setter. They lost to a Türkiye team that has been struggling and only has 1 win -- against Iran! I don't care if we are missing Jaeschke and Russell -- this right here is inexcusable. We are not ready. Why wasn’t Jaeschke and Russell on this trip?

Just finished watching the match. Iran played well and their setter was able to isolate his attackers more than Christenson.
TJ was incredible and he worked so hard throughout the entire match on offense and defense. I hate to say this but Matt is not looking up to par. I'm not sure if it's injury or age or maybe both but it's tough to see him struggle this way. Also, while I'm happy that Averill is going to Paris, he needs to step up, particularly in his blocking if he's going to be helpful to his team. But overall, Iran's block d was superior to the USA's. They had great touches at the net all match long.
They also missed the steady all-around games that Aaron and Tommy bring. TJ needed some help.
Hoping for a big time bounce back against Brazil! GO USA!

Should have stayed longer and gone to the Brazil match
