Yall really gonna write off Babcock for not being great in her first international tournament lol. She’s going to be a sophomore in college… this does not mean she can’t be good ever outside of college Jesus Christ lol

This was the first time on the big stage so let's give her some credit.

I’m not mad that they tested her here. I do wonder though, is this our 2nd best collegiate OPP in the US? I think regardless she’s a stud—development-wise U-21 would’ve been a better fit. She has a lot of time and a super high ceiling.

And tend to forget that these athletes always learning and tend to improve some part of their game every single season until they’re in their mid to late 20s at least.

Not saying being named an all-american is a definitive measure of who's best, but she was named 1st team AA by AVCA, VB Mag, and VT. It's kind of hard to deny when 3 separate groups all feel that way. USA brought her, Beason, Rutherford, and Robinson to the select college training camp, and her and Beason were chosen for this tournament, indicating USA staff felt they were the best 2 opposites from the week of training. And for development, NORCECA U21 is a cake walk for our players. Babcock already spent the previous 2 years on either the U19 team or U19 training roster and won't be able to play at the U21 World Championship because it's scheduled for too late in the summer. She (like every college player we sent to U21) would gain little from beating up on Suriname.

Talk about Madi skinner getting a late start lol, Babcock is another 3 whole years behind her in terms of when they started playing club babcocks biggest issue, imo, is generating power on oos sets or ones that aren't in prime location. It's the main reason why I slightly favor Kennedy Martin, who has a cannon oos. Babcock has plenty of time to develop that part of her game tho

That's development. Putting the top young players in situations where they have to really work for a win.

I think most people would say the best 3 college opposites this upcoming year are Beason, Babcock and Martin. And to repeat what I said before, her performance at NORCECA doesn't disappoint me at all; she didn't look like she couldn't be great, she just looks like she needs more time to get there. Her and Fischer have the highest ceilings of anyone on that squad imo, while Lexi and Frank are the most ready to play next-level volleyball. I am really interested in what Fischer will look like after 2 years of pro-level strength training - more specifically, what her game will look like.

Yea I love that they gave her this chance instead of the U21 tournament. The US has to start finding ways to train better opposites, it’s literally our one position that we lack world class athletes at. Babcock will be great but she needs more experiences like this event.

Franklin especially is impressive. How did we hold up in passing?
