Wait so what is Rivera doing? Did she make any individual finals? Or is she just there for funsies? We really only brought her for two events and both of her scores were dropped in the qualification round. They chose to go with the highest scoring routines so she’s going to be a great cheerleader during team finals and should go home with a free medal. I think if she had hit her beam routine like she normally does she would have been used there.

Whether it be for an individual or team? 2012 I feel like they all contributed, 2016 too. Tokyo is the only one I dont remember the team competitors as much,

So it seems Team USA is the favorite again in the women's team competition? Looks like they had by far the best qualification score.

Tokyo is the only one I dont remember the team competitors as much, In 2008 we brought a gymnast that didn’t compete in team finals but she was injured. I think Hezly may be the first non-injured gymnast, at least in the modern era, to not help the team in finals at all. It’s sad for her personally but I think its a wise choice for the team. People see the 5 point gap in the qualification scores and figure we can afford to give her a lineup spot just to let her contribute, but that margin for error shrinks pretty significantly when you remember the teams behind were counting falls and have a lot of room to improve in the finals.

Also isnt carey like one of the best on floor? Why isnt she being used I stand by the "if she's healthy, use her" because she puts up a big number on floor. With the 3 up, no dropped scores format, you need every big number to stay ahead of the pack and be that "padding" if someone falls.

And in 2004, we brought what was supposed to be the next big thing, but she made mistakes and got hammered by judges, so she was in warmups throughout the team finals. Even when a gymnast scratched beam last minute, they still didn't put her in.

Malone had a rough night one, but they're still rolling with him on the events he missed on.

With the 3 up, no dropped scores format, you need every big number to stay ahead of the pack and be that "padding" if someone falls. There was an article today that said she's not well and they want her to concentrate on one event. Otherwise she's one of the best in floor and it makes no sense to not use other otherwise.
