I’ll go looking for an answer if I can’t get a quick one here. Make fun of me for paying closest attention during the Olympics if you want, but it’s strange seeing these teams without Wallace and Zaytsev. Are they retired/injured/got beat out?

Make fun of me for paying closest attention during the Olympics if you want, but it’s strange seeing these teams without Wallace and Zaytsev. Are they retired/injured/got beat out? Zaytsev is pretty much done with national team duties. I'm not entirely sure if it was of his own accord. Wallace got in trouble for nodding approval to some jokes about un-aliving the brazilian president. The federation did not take kindly to that. |

If you watch Zaytsev now, he has nowhere near the same power in his swing anymore. Still a solid player. He's mostly an OH on his club team. Wallace doesn't have it anymore either. Darlan and Alan have definitely surpassed him. Plus didn't he have some drama that kept him off the team in prior events? |
