After watching the UCSD vs UCSB game last night, I think it's safe to say the UCSD is on pace to the the most disappointing team in the BW this year. At best they enter the tournament at the 5th spot (1 spot improvements from last year) and at worst they will drop to 8 (or a tie for 7).
I am not seeing anything that coach Grane, or Grin or Greent (IYKYK) is doing to better this team. Only one of her recruits is playing well (the Lib) and her grad transfer from USD is fair to mid. UCSDs stalwart OH is struggling under her (coach was an OH so I expect more). Ricci's setting recruit and Oppo are playing well...most of the time. She should thank God she has the middles she does as they are keeping this team afloat. Not the DS she found. Not the 5'7" OH she brought in from the schools club team. Not the grad transfer setter.
She needs to bring in some more seasoned assistant coaches...those two look lost ..someone (or 2) to guide her, be able to recruit, and really develop these players.
My "I called it" will be
1. Several promising players enter the portal at end of the year
2. If next years record looks the same as this year, she should be let go.
3. Incoming recruits will decommit. (If they haven't already...some IG posts have disappeared already).

Massey predicted seedings
1. Davis 16-2
2. Hawaii 14-4
3. Long Beach St. 13-5
4. Cal Poly 12-6
4. UCSB 12-6
6. UCI 10-8
6. UCSD 10-8
It is looking more and more like that final spot in the Big West Tournament is between UCI and UCSD.
I hope UCI will get it because they are hosting the tournament and UCI is capable of upsetting any of the other teams in the tourney making things more exciting and unpredictable.

If the Big West tournament started today, here would be the bracket:
FIRST ROUND
(4) UC Irvine vs (5) UC Santa Barbara
(3) Cal Poly vs (6) Long Beach State
SEMIFINALS
(2) Hawai'i vs Winner of (3/6)
(1) UC Davis vs Winner of (4/5)
This would be the same six teams from last season's tournament with UC San Diego being left out based on tiebreakers.

The Big West's automatic bid is up for grabs this year. The team that gets hot and stay hot will win it. I'd love for it to be Hawai'i, but they've been too inconsistent this year.

CSUN sweeps Fullerton 3-0.
Hawaii sweeps UCSB 3-0.
The after Halloween spooky 5 set upsets were HUGE!
UCSD upsets Davis 17-15 in La Jolla.
UCR upsets LB St. 16-14 at the Pyramid.
