On January 18, Volley Talk will follow Wikipedia's lead to black out the forum in protest of PIPA and SOPA.

The blackout is a protest against proposed legislation in the United States — the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the U.S. House of Representatives, and the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA) in the U.S. Senate — that, if passed, would seriously damage the free and open Internet, including Wikipedia.


Like Wikipedia, this is not an easy decision, as I try to remain neutral about politics. However, the nature of these laws would make it impossible for a forum relying on user-generated content to thrive and threatens your anonymity.

The blackout will end on 1/19/2012.
