Nice 3 game win tonight by the Gophers, 32-30, 30-28, 30-24. Impressed by the way they won two close games. Game one they gave up a lead and came back to win. And nice to see them, for the most part, control the third game.
Could be a very rough start for MI in the Big 10. Now 0-3 and having to go to WI tomorrow night.

Jones burped the Tupperware several times tonight. Man, that's fun to watch. Especially when it's against someone who is hitting the ball as hard as Lyndsay Miller was. Who was that who was so chummy with Dieter? My lips be sealed.

Katie B and Miller were bombing away for the first half of the match. KB was doing it from the service line, too. Seemed like they ran out of gas -- or the Gopher block/defense wore them down.
Michigan was a little unlucky tonight.
Lisa Rosen looked like she was ready to throttle someone. I kept my distance.

Wilber also served well late. The late runs in games 1 and 2 came with her at the line.
Fun match to watch (especially since the Gophers won!) with some great defense and rallies. I wasn't sure why Michigan was ranked but they do have some people who can pound the ball and play good defense.

Both teams played very good defense.
Both had moments weak serve receive.
I thought Meghan Cumpston came through big late in all 3 games when the Gophers really needed it.
The Gophers seemed to have 4-6 point runs in each game as well where their attacks just couldn't find the court. Tough many other times they showed us flashes of how well they're capable of playing. They've got plenty of room yet to improve and I'm pretty confident they'll be extremely good by the time the 2nd half of conference matches get started. I'm glad they've shown signs of being able to win close games and matches in recent weeks.
I didn't realize before tonight that Michigan has no seniors on their team. They could be pretty tough by the time the NCAA tournament get started and very good next year.

It's hard to believe that Katie Brzuzdzinzski (are there enough z's there?) is still only a junior. It seems she has been around longer.

Yeah, I somehow thought she was a senior as well.
She was playing extremely as (R)! mentioned for the first game and a half or so but had some "unforced" hitting errors and some service errors after that - especially in the 3rd game.

OK Ruffdah, I usually see Dieter at the matches but didn't tonight? Are you at liberty to say who was with her or at least give a hint?

Fortunately she may not be quite as quick or athletic as she was when playing for OSU.

JHAM,
We walked right by Dieter on the way out. She was talking to a girl that was about 2 inches taller than her. I didn't recognize her from Northern Lights or any other local club, not that that means much. I'm assuming however she's not the setter savior we really need to be recruiting since miss Hartman will be the only setter available next year. Scary to not have a back up.
C'mon Ruffda, give us more please!

Perhaps Ogonna has received another year of eligibility and she's decided to use it playing for the Gophers next year?

Is nice to see the defense playing well and the Rig hitting so efficiently. When was the last time we had an OH hit above .300 consistently? Great to see Meghan playing so well too. And the friend of Dieter...I noticed the chatting too, but didn't recognize the young lady. Are there any big time '07 recruits who haven't committed? Like an OP/S who is 6'2? Do dreams come true?

Pretty sure it wasn't Klineman...too short. And she's the only Top 30 that isn't committed for next year. Maybe a gem for '08? Still kind of worries me that we haven't heard a thing about our '08 prospects. Last year at this time we had both Dieter and Gibb on the commit list. And yes, what are we doing for a SETTER next year?
