Fawcett thought it wouldn't be right to not have the door opening shot made famous by MTV Cribs.

After navigating the backroads of State College, Pa., the wide-open development design of the street gives one the feel of being transported to another city. At the end of the circular street, the house appears inconspicuous enough with its simple brick pattern and classic slanted roof, and cookie cutter look to the exterior. But this townhouse on the outskirts of Happy Valley, is a little-known tradition in the world of Penn State women's volleyball, and is the current resident of one of the nation's best outside hitters, Nicole Fawcett, and her teammates Christa Harmotto and Kris Brown.
Fawcett, a sophomore from Zanesfield, Ohio, is the reigning National Freshman of the Year, and the main gun in a high powered Nittany Lions attack, which is currently ranked No. 2 in the nation.
The first thing we notice is the cleanliness of the apartment. Fawcett swears it looks like this everyday.

"We didn't clean up because you were coming over," she said. "We usually keep this place pretty clean, especially Kris."
Fawcett then leads us to the living room entertainment center. The shelves here are mostly bare except for a stereo, TV, photos of Brown's nephew, and Brown's DVD collection.
"We watch Everyone Loves Raymond here," Fawcett said pointing to the couches that furnish the living room (one is even leather). "We usually watch our favorite TV show up here: One Tree Hill."

While the living room is for discussing whether Lucas should be with Brooke or Peyton, the kitchen is oddly enough used for cooking. Most college students usually dismiss the idea of preparing their own food and would much rather order a pizza. But the girls in this house actual seem to enjoy cooking their own meals.
"We take turn cooking with the boys next door," Fawcett said. "We always cook dinner every night it's sort of like family dinner."
It is the reveled that Fawcett's cooking skills revolved around the grill; this leads Harmotto to interject, "She's the grillwoman."
Next, we are led to the cupboard, which is actually stocked with everything from Special K cereal to boxes upon boxes of pasta. A glance to the bottom and one realizes that it also double as storage for cleaning products.
After the tour of the rather small first floor, Fawcett leads us to the basement, where the girls' three bedrooms are located.
A Gateway to History

The wall next to the stairs that leads to Fawcett's bedroom sports three poster: The first is of two former star middle hitters for the Penn State's men's volleyball team -- Nate Meerstein and Keith Kowal, which is followed by a poster of former defensive specialist, Tabitha Eshelman being lifted over the net during the pregame warmups by her teammates -- an inside joke about her small stature -- and the last one is of former Nittany Lions outside hitter, All-American and former resident of the house, Sydney Nadeau. Four players that have etched some type of legacy in the history Penn State volleyball, lead the way to the room of the one player who has a shot at placing her name head-and-shoulders above anyone else in program's long history.
As we enter the room, the first thing that strikes the eye is an 11-by-15 framed poster of a bright red rose, which has pictures of Fawcett, her roommates and the rest of her Penn State volleyball teammates. On the shelf adjacent to the poster, is the home to her glass-like letters that spell out believe, and a rather petite bamboo tree.

"Me and Christa bought [the letters that spell out believe] together," she said. "The bamboo trees were purchased prior to the preseason for good luck. All three of us have them."
"My tree is actually the biggest," Brown, who is the shortest of the roommates, added.
Fawcett revels her entertainment center, which is hidden behind doors inside and old-style closet. This area is filled with photos of her trip to Hawaii, a jewelry box, school books and her high school yearbook, which she boast that she was the sports editor. But it her DVD collection that takes prominence, it includes all the usual suspects: Breakfast Club, Shrek, Harry Potter, etc. Some surprises invade the collection such classics as Foul Play with Goldie Hawn and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest with Jack Nicholson. But she has an explanation for some of the oddities in her collection.
"My Mom brought some of the older movies, like Caddyshack," she said.
Who said Shoe Sale?!
What can you say? A girl's got to have shoes.
While opening Fawcett closet, the stereotypical floor covered in shoes MTV Cribs shot was almost expected, and she doesn't disappoint. But the one clear difference was the complete lack of organization of the footwear. Flip-flops on top of heels, and slippers resided nest one of her many pairs of Nike sneakers, but Fawcett assured us that she knew what shoes were in the closet.
"This isn't all of them," Fawcett said. "I had my mom take some home."
A glance upward in the closet reveals the many styles of Fawcett. She doesn't seem to fit into one style but does seem to lean toward jeans as her primary pants. She immediately pulls out a female style Penn State jersey, it has Derrick Williams' No. 2 on it.
"Gotta represent the football team," she said.
But one thing is missing from the closet -- Cleveland sports attire. Fawcett is an avid Browns fan as is Brown, a Wooster, Ohio native, but there isn't a jersey on the rack. Harmotto, who grew up outside of Pittsburgh, comments about that in her room across the hall, which makes Fawcett use the excuse that since she's in Pennsylvanina she can't find Browns clothing.
Phil Rizzuto?
Who needs a car when you can zip around campus on a scooter?
No, not that Scooter. Rather a motorized Honda scooter that Fawcett and Brown ride back and forth from campus. One Saturday this fall, the two decided to ride it past The Creamery -- a central gathering place for students and alumni before and after home football games -- trying to induce some laughter from the on-looking crowd. You see, the way the girls ride on the scooter was best summed up by Harmotto: "kinda ridiculous." The 5-foot-6 brown is the driver and sit in front of the 6-foot-4 Fawcett, and well, look kinda silly. But that doesn't really bother them as they enjoy the idea of riding the scooter.
"We love our scooter time," Brown said.
"Yeah, we rode home from [Sept. 20 game against Ohio State]," Fawcett added. "Absolutely freezing."
