This match might be a little tougher than I thought. UC Bovine gave Cow Poly a run for their money last night and played them much closer than we did (32-34 , 26-30 30-21 27-30). The Gauchos had better come to play.

Irvine wins game 1 30-32. I can't report any details because irvine doesn't have play by play, just an open mike, and the placement of the video is so low and the lighting so bad that you really can't tell what's happening on the court.

USB opens up game 2 8-0 before Brandt finnaly serves into the net. After going up 15-5 UCSB decided they weren't sure whether they really wanted to iwn and let UCI back into the game UCSB up 24-22 UCSB pulls out game 2 30-27. This UCSB team MUST learn to FOCUS. Twice in that final critical section UCSB had service errors. As Rob Waxman used to say to our beach vball class, "I can land a helicopter in that court, why can't you get that serve into it?" (As a side note to Wolfgang. No I doubt that he actually few helicopters, I think it was just a figure of speech.)

Have we had a match yet where we haven't let the other team back into it at least once? The 3 matches I've seen have gone that way. We lost against Cal Poly for that very reason.
And when I say "we", I mean "the gauchos." I don't claim to personally have had anything to do with it, though I suppose I could start heckling again...

I switched to the beachless/cow poly match at the break and although teh announcer didn't say so explicitly, it sounded as though poly was up 2-0. However, poly was not playing well at he beginning of game 3.

Now that was interesting. I have the UCLA/Stanford football game on the TV and I just saw the first quick kick since I don't know how long. 3rd and 18 Stanford quick kicks to great effect leaving UCSB starting on their own 10 year line.

UCI returning the favor, they were up 8-12 and now UCSB is up 18-15.
And UCSB returns the favor right back. UP 19-15, it's now 21 all.

...leaving UCSB starting on their own 10 year line. You mean UCLA on the 10 yard line? UCSB may have a 10-year line, but it aint got nuttin to do with Stanford's punting.

As much as I want to pull for a team with a cool name like the Anteaters, I really hope UCSB pulls this one out. I hate losses, but Wisconsin has been playing a lot better since the Gauchos beat them.

8-8 game 4
This UCSB team needs to decide right about now whether they wnt to be known as the first UCSB team to miss the NCAA's, because if they lose this match, the odds of that go WAY up.
11-9
