Let's see....
I don't know who played well, and who didn't. I tend to remember the only the good shots, so my impression of what the stats are is almost always wrong.
Several of the Gopher fans (self included) got upset when we thought Russ called his third timeout in game two. All of us bright bulbs had forgotten about a media timeout. (Edit: I don't feel so bad after watching the match on tv. The announcers thought Russ was taking a third timeout.)
Mike was upset with something, and talked to the down ref, who then held up the game while he talked with the up ref, and then came back to give the answer to Mike... two points in a row. Like I say... I don't know what the concern was.
The PSU drummer forgot (at least, I hope he just forgot) about 1/3 of the time after game one, and kept beating the drum in time with ball-bounces pre-service (put after the up ref blew the whistle to start play). Grrr.
At 26-25 (PSU) in game four, the line judge on PSU's side called a ball out which was clearly in. Several PSU fans came up afterward and apologized for the way it went. I'm not sure that it would have changed anything in the end to have the score tied at 26 instead of 27-25, but it sure didn't help us any. In general, the reffing was even, and really not too bad. Calls on setting were pretty loose, but neither side benefited, I think.
I'd really like to know why the highways between PIT and PSU have been under constant
construction (at least, during the VB season) for the last 4 years. Blech!
