Big week in the Valley with UNI, Missouri State, WSU, and Creighton all tied at the top with 5-1 records. Creighton has the tough weekend on the road at WSU and Missouri State.

I don't think any of them really has a lot of hope. The closest might be WSU, who at least have a win over Illinois. UNI's been all over the place, and, you have to say, at least they've scheduled to give themselves a shot. I don't think they've pulled the win they need to go, but they've given themselves the opportunity (hey, the Alabama win looks better now). Missouri St's got a Colorado St win, but elsewise don't have the schedule (a win over Utah would have been huge, but not likely). Creighton's not even close.

I think the Valley could get 2 teams depending on who wins the tournament. UNI is in the drivers seat for the regular season title looking at the rest of their schedule. The Valley is sitting 10th according to Rich Kern as far as conference RPI. I agree that Creighton probably doesn't have a chance but is closer than p-dub thinks when you check their RPI. They swept 3 teams that were in last years NCAA tournament but those teams haven't played to their potential this year. The Jays are young and injured from what I hear so are probably a year away from a shot at their first Valley Title. Don't count out MSU. Stokes can coach.

Last year, WSU doesn't get in after losing in the tournament with a great record and bouncing around the bottom of the AVCA Top 25 most of the season. I can't recall now, but I think their RPI was pretty decent too. I agree with those that say there is basically no chance for more than one team from the MVC unless they have several "quality wins" that the selection committee can point to. That now seems to be a must to earn an "at large" invitation.

This might be relevant if there was any indication that RPI mattered. Look back to last year. As SaltNPepper notes, Wichita St had the RPI. They lacked the good wins. Creighton might have beaten teams that were good last year, but last year doesn't matter. UNI beat Notre Dame, too, but that doesn't do much this year. Oddly enough, the win that helps UNI probably the most right now is Clemson. Don't know if you folks realize it, but Clemson currently is tied for second in the ACC, but in the best position there because Florida St hasn't played Duke yet. Of course, then UNI turned around and lost to last place Georgia Tech, and THAT is the type of thing that will keep them out of the tournament.

Good point P-dub. I made the mistake of thinking the committee also used common sense. That of course went out the window last year when Kansas got in and Iowa State did not.
