I'm starting this topic because this past Saturday I was left in stitches after watching a play during an NAIA match between Walsh and Mt. Vernon Nazerene.
Walsh had been having trouble covering their hitters all day. About midway through the match, a set went to their strongside hitter Meghan McDonald. She got off a good swing, but smacked it right into the double block. Her follow-through, though, was so good that it left her standing completely bent over at the net. The blocked ball fell straight down, bounced off her now horizontal back, and caromed nearly straight up in the air. The left back, covering her on the play, alertly stepped in and set the ball back to the middle. I'd like to say that Walsh won the point, but I think the middle hit the ball long.
It took McDonald a few moments to realize what had happened, especially since everybody on both teams and all the spectators were laughing at the play. A good no-call, also, by the referee, as the ball came up perfectly clean off her back. A seriously funny moment.
