Did you notice the trainer working on her right arm before the match and that she also kept kind of shaking it during the match. It looked like she was having some shoulder problems or something. Oh, I see the injury card has been used...trumps, drama queen. What? I'm sorry, I can't hear what you're saying; I have this other BIK statement ringing in my ears from another thread. You know, the thread about why Hawaii is losing: "When a team loses three starters, and has other players playing with injury, yeah, I'd consider it to be a team that is down."

Nebraska can also blame themselves for scheduling. Just about every if not all of their preseason games the last two seasons have been at home. Last year the AVCA brought them good teams, plus Penn State a second time. Minnesota comes to mind as their only away match preseason in 05 but that was not much of a test. Nebraska needs to hit the road and schedule some better teams away out of conference. Hmm, my friend & I must have made a wasted trip to Ohio St last Labor Day weekend to watch the Huskers play out there against Michigan & OSU before we followed them to Minnesota that same weekend.

The reply was to you're saying that NU wasn't scheduling any away pre-conference matches except @ Minnesota the last 2 years.

No need to explain plm. My response was intended to be sarcastic and nothing less. Cheers!

Correct me if I'm wrong(you all do that so well :-)) but didn't we already discuss how many top programs refused to play NU on their preconference slate?? LBSU in years past would've been a quality opponent.

I am so glad you brought that up Eov. NU has stuggled to schedule the top teams for home and away games. Its seems that many top teams are not very keen playing the Huskers. In other words,................. Cook has tried to schedule tougher competition but has had few takers.

If everyone rembers Cook tried to get some of the biggies to play NU this year at a later time in the season but no one wanted to because they were afraid of lowering their seeding for the NCAA tourney if they had lost.

Perhaps a Cook comment or quote on the subject that involves both a home/away deal and not just home. My take is Nebraska prefers to host to boost attendance and ticket sales for the program. Not that there is anything wrong with that but this thread was initiated based on Nebraska not being "tested". Best way to get tested is by hitting the road and away from the safe confines of Omaha/Lincoln.

Seems to me that MN took NU to 5 games last year before NU won 15-12. What constitutes a "test"?

I can't dig up any verifiable info, but don't the Huskers and Gophers have an agreement to a home and home series going forward?

I don't if there is a formal agreement but I heard that the home and home is the case for, at least, the near future. I think that if this is true it is great for both programs. Outside of some nearby conference foes (Wisconsin and Missouri) there really isn't much competition nearby. What could be cool is a rotating tourney with NU, MN, Nothern Iowa, and a rotating team. Probably the best 3 teams in the area that aren't conference foes.
Hopefully, the NU and MN competition will build a rivalry that will benefit both programs. I know I am already looking forward to a possible visit to MN by NU next year.

The problem with scheduling isn't that the great programs don't want to play Nebraska period, it's that they don't want to play at Nebraska. Therefore, when JC offers a home and home, or single match in Lincoln/Omaha with all expenses paid, they turn it down.
It will be interesting to see if JC will ever relent and schedule a road trip to a good team, without a guarenteed return of that team to the Coliseum, in an effort to get his team some quality competition. Now, if the rest of the Big 12 would just get its stuff together, and not be so darn mediocre, he wouldn't have to worry about it. But that isn't just going to happen over night.

I think we are all in agreement for the most part that NU's pre conference schedule could've been stronger and that they really have not been truely tested. If you look at some of the teams outside of the AVCA tourney that Cook has played since his arrival at Nebraska on either neutral or road sites he's not ducking competition.

Texas has been more than a handfull for NU at home the last two seasons by winning in 2005 & going to 5 games in 2004. With depth & awesome recruiting it's looking like Texas is in good position to be a top 10 if not higher year in and year out. I think a split (home/away) between NU & Texas is very likely for the next 2-3 years.
