On a personal note, I think they need to get a lot more College players on the USA team, like the Barboza's. Sorry, I find it sad that many people will not even know half of the names that are on the list. Further more everyone knows how political the USA Program is. Who wants someone representing the United States, when they been playing for Brazil, or Japan, or any other country that they have been playing for. I'd be willing to wager that you could put together a NCAA All-star team, and they probably could beat the old folks... I liked it better when you could not be a professional. Jeez, for America at least use the people that play in our own country... Please Please, nobody talk about how other countries use paid athletics. It has still ruined it for the USA, we have great college players, and I am sure they could hold there own if given the chance...

Wow, really....the USA team is not that all-world, comparing to the likes of Brazil, Italy, China, Russia etc, but I bet that they would spank the NCAA All-Stars team who barely would have 2-3 days to play together.

Willing to take that bet if you give them two weeks, and I get to pick the team...

I don't know Italian either but a friend told me that it says she does not want to play... All I could get out of it was that she will not be there Maybe someone with a better grasp of Italian could help??

No honor, no pride, no loyalty. That is the Olympics when it is open to pros. Just another all-star game. Why should the player$ interrupt their careers for it?

I doubt my grasp of italian is better than your friends It says she renounced playing in the world championships and would like to get to Italy around 27 October. Written italian sometimes has a flair for the dramatic, so I can't tell if she really opted out of playing in the WCH, or if the writer took a little liberty...

Hmm...so many players dropping out of the WC national team. I know that this is not an Olympic year, so several players may want to try out other things (i.e. beach vball) or make as much money as possible in the pro circuit (in lieu of training at OTC).
Next year is the important run-up to 2008 Olympic. Will we see an influx of veterans coming back (i.e. Tom, Sykora) or youngsters coming back after bowing out in 2005/2006 (i.e. Nnamani, Sam T. or even Berg)? How will JLP treat all these players who want to come back to national team training just for Olympic glory -- should she go with the best players (regardless of how they may have avoided OTC in the past few years) or will she go with the group who have paid their dues at OTC, especially since vball is a team sport and team chemistry is crucial to success?

I dont think Tom nor Sykore are planning to go back to the national team.. Sykora is happy with her life without volleyball and is not living in Las Vegas. Tom is rumored to get back to the beach after the Euro League. She is commited to play with McPeak for 2006.
