Heck.... did anyone see any media coverage when the US won the grand prix a few years ago? There is no money involved here (no sponsors, no commercials) so no media. Media people go only to places where they can get some $$$

There are plenty of players in the NCAA who think of the national team as a possible next step. Courtney Thompson for one is mentioning it pretty frequently when interviewed. And yes, the motivation seems to be simply the thrill of representing her country. For example: gohuskies.cstv.com/sports/w-volley/spec-rel/101106aad.htmlOf course, when she does go to NT training, she will be four years behind other country's setters the same age, and in the 2-3 years it takes to get her up to speed, those other setters will be continuing their pro development. By that time, life will change and priorities may change and who knows what may happen. Maybe that's why it sometimes seems like members of our National Team are either 27 and over veterans or 23 and under superstars -- the ladies in the middle (like Logonna Tomani) are in flux as they hit the transition point between NCAA All-American Standout and That's Nice, But What Do I Do With My Life Now. Whereas their foreign counterparts have been slowly working into the pro ball circuit since they were mid-teens.
