My last thread turned into a Hawaii thread. I'm seriously looking for justification to vote for St. Johns in the polls.
Also, I believe that there is a question, was that you Gator, about the eligibility of a 26-year-old sophomore from China?
Anyone know anything about St. Johns?

I don't know if it's true or not, but someone on another board said their Chinese player was 26 and she's listed as a sophomore. Was just curious if anyone knew the real story. I'd like to know more about St. Johns, cause I'm gonna go see them play over Thanksgiving weekend in Orlando against LSU and Florida.

They are a good college team. They have a Polish setter who moves the ball around easily and Wang is a grown woman. The OH from Hawaii has been great all season...and the libero does a pretty nice job. I have seen a lot of the top 25 teams...and they may be able to compete with many of them...not sure if they could consistently beat any of them. Better than people think though.

"You agree, through your use of this forum, that you will not post any material which is false, defamatory, inaccurate, abusive, vulgar, hateful, harassing, obscene, profane, sexually oriented, threatening, invasive of a person's privacy, or otherwise in violation of ANY law."
the above was taken from the agreement form for this site. Hui Ping Huang is not 26. She is 22. A big difference. Therefore, you have published false information.
And as for St. John's receiving votes, they are well deserving of it. They are 21-1. Only loss was to USC after they beat South carolina in 5 and Florida State in 4. Also SWEPT Louisville and Cincinnati.
And if you still disagree with the record as enough of a reason, take a look at the stats. 2nd nationally in assists, 29th in hitting percentage, 3rd in kills per game and 4th in W-L percentage. Not to mentiion they are at the top of almost every category in the the Big
i suggest you get used to seeing them because if they continue winning this season you will see them in the NCAAs
Cheers!

I never said she was 26. I said someone on another board posted it and asked if anyone here knew the real story. So I didn't publish false information. Ok, so she's 22 and listed as a sophomore. There is no way that should be allowed. A 22 year old sophomore? That's still ridiculous.

ur absolutely right, its rediculous to allow a good player to come to the states to play and get an education. note the sarcasm. when it comes down to it, everyone has the same opportunity to recruit from outside the US. and alot of international players are older, not because they have played professionally like some people speculate, but because they may have had trouble getting their papers in order.

Yeah, I'm not a xenophobe, I'm a foreigner myself. I'm all for foreign players coming to the states for an education, to play volleyball and have a chance at a better life. But a 22 year old sophomore is ridiculous.

Isn't it amazing how quickly they can get "their papers in order" once they've been recruited though?

Of course, it could be argued that everything on this forum is hear-say. Seriously, I've seen the list of opponents. I've seen the stats. None of them are 'clear indicators' of this team's talent. Has the core played together long? Are the players professionals? Why do the appear to be so good. Any TV dates scheduled for them? Audio broadcasts? Anything like this? I seriously, truly want to know, but can't find more information.

But a 22 year old sophomore is ridiculous. There's one place where players of an advanced age has really gotten attention, and it's football players on church missions. Of course the most prominent example is at BYU, but even Cal has several Mormon players who have gone on church missions or are planning on doing as such before returning to complete their eligibility. However - I understand the "church mission" is often a very different environment. They're not hitting the weight room, not playing their sport, and not even contacting their family/friends except for limited exceptions.

Also SWEPT Louisville and Cincinnati. Sweeping Louisville is a notable accomplishment. Sweeping Cincinatti is not. Big test for the Red Storm coming this Sunday, facing ND at ND.

gameslacker says St. Johns up 2-0 on Notre Dame, 36-29, 30-24. What's up with that score?
