Is Notre Dame an NCAA tournament team this season? Not from what I saw vs. Hawaii twice. I think the top 3 teams in the WAC would smoosh them. Idaho would probably win a rematch at this point as they've figured out a setter rotation that works now that they didn't have when they played earlier in the year. Still don't understand what Brown is thinking going allll the way to Hawaii in the middle of the Big East season, right before playing St. John's. GREAT IDEA.

Who ya gonna put ahead of them on the lower part of that top 30? I see no problems with giving a top 27-30 vote to any of these teams... not necessarily in this order: Pepperdine (WCC) St Johns (Big East) Colorado State (MWC) Wichita State (MVC) UCSB (Big West) Colorado (Big 12) Loyola Marymount (WCC) Duke (ACC) Northern Iowa (MVC) Michigan (Big Ten) Missouri State (MVC) Arkansas (SEC) Texas A&M (Big 12) Sacramento State (Big Sky) Northwestern (Big Ten) Kansas (Big 12)

If SJU isn't top 25 this week, then they'll be #1 in the receiving votes.

Why will they leapfrog Long Beach?

Why will they leapfrog Long Beach? Actually, I take it back. Oregon will replace Tennessee in the top 25, so SJU won't be #1 in receiving votes. As for leaping over LBSU, it was just a hunch.

Michigan and Northwestern are on your list and not Michigan State?
As for St. John's - if you'e having trouble finding reasons to vote for them based on their record their isn't anything you're going to see until their final two regular season matches that will change your mind in a possible manner.

IB,
The Notre Dame match(es) give you an indication of comparative abilities of St. John's and Hawaii since the matches both teams played against Notre Dame.
At the very least you can say the results of the 3 matches were comparable and gives you a reason to vote for St. John's if you're voting for Hawaii.

I take back all those terrible things I said last year about your ethical standards.

Remember, Missouri's older Chinese players.
Jr Na Yang will be 25 on November 10th and Redshirt freshman Lei Wang turned 22 in August. Birthdays on Mizzou's website. I do know they spent quite a while in the US learning English prior to enrolling, at least that's what Wayne Krecklow told me last summer.

Speaking of St John's, they have quite an old Chinese player on their team as well.

Speaking of St John's, they have quite an old Chinese player on their team as well. Some have said she's 26, some have said 22. Either way, she's only listed as a sophomore and even at 22, she's way too old to be a sophomore. It's ridiculous.

Yeah, I'm not a xenophobe, I'm a foreigner myself. I'm all for foreign players coming to the states for an education, to play volleyball and have a chance at a better life. But a 22 year old sophomore is ridiculous. I think in theory a scholarship athlete can be as old as 29, and walk on's can be any age.... I know mississippi state has a senior who was born in 1981...
