There is no partnered travel in the Big12. Huh, hadn't noticed. They've done this in the past, when did they move away from it. Wed/Sat(or Fri) schedule changed to not have players taking 60-80 swings on back to back nights. (TPetit influenced) Don't like the back to back nights (See UW at USC for reason why; or any trip to UW/WSU on back to back nights) but Wed/Sat seems a bit overboard the other way though. Seems like a Thurs/Sat or Fri/Sun schedule is best. Also Big10's changing partner approach is best but the obvious Pac10 matchings make it hard to deviate from what they've always done. UW is at a big disadvantage on roadtrips. UA had it tough in the past also when they were much stronger than ASU and fighting for top of the league.

either way you have to miss a day of school, this schedule gives you more time to recover and more time to prepare for the next match. Chartering makes a big difference, Nebrasaka was back in Lincoln by midnight last night. Typically the will fly down the day of the match but in the case of Texas, they flew down on Tuesday to have a little extra practice time in the gym. Not sure it was totally beneficial beccause not all team members had a great match but we won so maybe it was.

Seems like a Thurs/Sat or Fri/Sun schedule is best. Care to explain why this would be any better than Wed./Sat? Different, yes, but I don't see how it is better. Wed./Sat. gives more time to prepare for the Sat. match. One way the Wed./Sat. schedule is worse is that Regionals are on back-to-back nights where you do have less time to prepare for the harder match the second night. Cook tries to throw in a couple matches during the season to try to simulate that a little bit but given the type of competition around here, there is no way to duplicate it.

I was wondering more of why wedneday saturday instead of something like friday / sunday... Competing with football has to make it hard to get more fans interested.... Not here ;D Actually, early in the Cook era, we had a home VB match with Kansas State scheduled at the same time as a big FB game was going to be on TV (back when the FB team was better). Cook tried very hard to get Suzie Fritz to change the time so the fans would be able to see both but she refused to budge. Obviously Cook wanted a full house but was worried many fans would stay home to watch the FB game. That worry was unfounded as fans either skipped the FB game to see a home VB game instead or they are just not the same group so there is really no conflict.
