IRVING, Texas---Destinee Hooker (Texas) was tabbed Big 12 Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for the matches of Oct. 16-22, the league office announced.
It is Hooker's first weekly volleyball conference accolade, as she becomes the second student-athlete in Big 12 history to earn the honor in three sports, but the first to do so in which all three were not running events. Amy Mortimer (Kansas State won in cross country, indoor and outdoor track and field. Hooker was named both Big 12 Indoor (Jan. 24) and Outdoor (May 2) Track & Field Athlete of the Week during the 2006 season.

Hooker averaged 5.00 kills and a .436 hitting percentage in 10 games. She also added 5.45 points per game and six blocks to the Longhorns' effort, splitting matches with Nebraska and Oklahoma last week.
Against No. 1 Nebraska, Hooker tallied 24 kills and compiled a .538 hitting clip against the league's top-rated defense in conference action. It marked the first time a team challenged the Huskers to five games this season. Hooker committed just three errors in 39 swings, while recording one block assist, but NU edged the `Horns 3-2.
Hooker then recorded a career-high 26 kills (.364) a the 3-2 victory over No. 23 Oklahoma. She also chipped in two digs and five blocks.
On the season, Hooker is averaging 3.71 points, 3.23 kills and 0.55 blocks in addition to a .254 hitting percentage.
