So. Now it looks like we have an unknown, Cal Poly, at the top of the leader board for the Big West at 8-0 in conference play. Not to worry though, "The Beach" is right behind them at 6-1 the first battle going to Cal Poly. I dunno how do you think Brian is going to attack this one? Matters worse, the new head coach from CAl Poly is an X alumni of UCLA. Will this be a nail biter of a match?

Pismo Beach had a clam festival last weekend. Did anyone go? Has anyone dug the sand for clams?
(Pismo Beach is close to San Luis Obispo)

If the beachless wins this match, they assure themselves no worse than an unshared second in conference depending on how they do against UCSB the next night. If they lose then they will either be 2nd or tied for 2nd again depending on how they do against UCSB Saturday night. This will be the toughest weekend of the year for the beachless. They will be away at Pablo #12 and #25. And the UCSB/beachless game is going to be televised on CSTV, which means we might actually get 10 students out to see the team. Go Gauchos Go Poly

when did cal poly drop the san luis obispo? i used to love the way that rolled off the tongue. I'm wondering about that too. There are two California State University campuses known as "Cal Poly". The Cal Poly Pomona Broncos have a D-II women's VB team. www.csupomona.edu/%7Eathletic/Teams/wvball/index.html

Back in the day, there was only one "University of California" campus, and it was in Berkeley. "The Day" must have been a LONG time ago. Answer: Yes, 1866. The "Southern Branch" of the University of California was opened in 1919 (changed to "University of California at Los Angeles" in 1927). UC Davis was before that, but was not named "UC" until later.
